Today I made my first visit to fighting chicken. I've seen it as I've driven past the past month or so as it changed from Tonic to the shop it is now, I was definetly waiting for it to open, they opened last thursday. I had a good old chat with the owner while I waited for my food, he is a lovely whangarei local, and owned the previous buisness, Tonic, for 10 years. I ordered a 6pk of wings, w pepper&plum and gochujang sauce. The wings were great, crispy fried goodness, decently seasoned too! The sauces were a mix of sweet and savoury which were great to dip into. I also ordered 6 donuts, 1 of each flavor, I have a feeling ill make a regular visit to pick up a doughnut, the chocolate and mango ones hit the spot for me, but each one was great! I got the boneless chicken meal with coleslaw and pepper plum sauce and boy was it tasty! The chicken was tender and the fried coating was crisp and not at all greasy, the coleslaw was tasty, and the pepper and plum sauce was a real taste experience I didn't know I had been missing.
