Motel Sierra — Hotel in North Island

FILTHY. They seem to care a lot about covid and the vaccines you had 2 years ago, and definitely not enough about basic hygiene. They were very proud not to do emergency housing and the woman at reception went on and on about it. She also said because they care so much about covid rules, the games room was closed, otherwise they’d have to clean it after every guest - and the same applies to every communal area. When we saw the room, we couldn’t believe how extremely dirty it was, please see the pictures!

The hob was so disgusting that we didn’t even cook. Kitchen surfaces were full of stains, crumbs, and sticky bits Nothing was freshly cleaned and washed, not even the tea towels, which have been clearly used before us The washing up sponge was shockingly old and disgusting, we didn’t dare touch it Plates and cutlery were greasy, we washed everything before using it Above the toilet there were lots of cobwebs with a number of dead insects stuck in them

These are just some examples. I’m sure you can find a much better place for $180 a night. We won’t be coming back,...

Regretted not looking at some of the reviews here before booking. We tried to check in 7 mins past 8pm. No one at reception, even though our booking Agoda stated check-in available till 10.30pm.||Called the number on the reception door, no one picked up. Waited for a while, and motel owner came out of his room (apparently he stays there and proudly admitted he's the owner) and said he's been watching us on CCTV. ||||We politely asked for a check-in but he refused and said we were disturbing him. Seeing we're Asians, he tried his best racist remark by questioning our understanding of his "no check-in after 8pm door sign". Apparently he doesn't understand his own door sign vs Agoda check-in timing?||||Refused to refund us too. Fortunately Agoda hasn't paid him yet, so we didn't lost a cent. Absolutely disgusting and rude behavior from the host!||Questioned my partner about why she booked there when she lives in Whangarei, calling her a drug dealer or a prostitute and we weren't welcome there and told us to not check in! I had traveled up on the day from Hamilton for a job interview and to spend some time with my darling so she booked us a room for 3 days so we could have our space and spend time together before I head back down for work but to get thatvkind of behavior thrown at us before we even arrived is absolutely disgusting. We were 5 min down the road and rung ahead to see if we could park 2 cars there as my darling still had to go to work and I had traveled up in my car from Hamilton and straight off the bat!!
