Mary Potter Hospice Shop - Tawa — Local services in North Island

I went into this shop to look for me some winter clothing today and as an 'aged' person on a budget I asked one of the ladies what the prices were. She informed me that if it was NOT priced then 'tops' were $5... I found X3 items (that had NO prices on them), I liked so laid them out on the counter whilst I went to look at the $5 fill-a-bag. I heard the person serving me asking her colleague if one of the items - a 'KNEE LENGTH LONG SLEEVED CARDIGAN' was a jacket?! Her collegue agreed it was and told me the item was $10!!! I said to the person serving me that it was NOT priced and they shouldn't be changing prices at the counter. The colleague asked me rather 'bluntly' "whats the matter" - I told her that it was NOT priced and a long sleeved cardigan is NOT classed as a jacket... They both replied that it was a jacket. Annoyed I told them to keep all the items and walked out. On the way out I heard the colleague tell me to NOT come back! Wow... I have frequented many op shops, donated to them and even volunteered in them, and despite the fact that they are ALL charities and 'do it for a good cause... My arguement is - isn't MY cause (the fact that I'm buying clothing from an op shop - who gets it for NOTHING),...

The lady's in there is very racist and act like it's not charity shop but they own the shop. $5 fill a bag is also very small you can fit 2 sweater and it fill right up and they watch you like hawks what you taking give a room to breathe it's so annoying. obviously not everyone have luxury to buy new things hence why people go to charity shop. Fill a bag especially is there after it was weeded from main sell they should be happy it is not going to landfill.Don't ever use a cash in charity shop always use card so it goes to main organization. Not even one greet you with smile...

The ladies who take care of this store put such a huge amount of energy and creativity into making it absolutely fabulous. The flair and thought that is given to even the smallest details is overwhelming! They have a designer clothing section which is very reasonably priced as well as a "fill a bag" section for $5!
