VanMan — Local services in North Island

First time using Van Man, first rang them with pretty short notice (given level 2-3 lockdown situation), Darryl picked up the phone and got an understanding of the job and my timing (which is not flexible). Was hoping to move earlier in the morning but Darryl confirmed in writing the move will go ahead at midday. In hindsight, this was to allow the guys to finish an earlier job and arrive in time. So pleased that he arranged it.

On the day, they finished the earlier job and the lead van man - Larry called me to ask for permission to start early. This suited me, so I asked them to come, Larry arrived at around 11 sharp, so easy for me to time the entire move. The other two guys on my job were Eason and Conrad, both very relatable and great for the job, surprised by their attention to detail and focus/thinking skills at such a young age.

The entire move went very well, heavy items were carefully moved by the co-ordination of all three guys. Lucky Darryl put 3 guys on the job, otherwise the job would have taken a lot longer. The positioning of the items into the truck was also an art, planned by Larry, we ended up almost an exact fit of an entire truck. Very happy the value achieved by this by careful planning and great execution.

Communication with Darryl at the office was also smooth and efficient, which made the entire booking experience stress-free. Fred deserves a special mention for being involved in both parts of the move—his consistency and professionalism really stood out. I was very impressed with VanMan's service when they helped me to move out last week! From the get go, Larry was very responsive, helpful and the company's prices are pretty affordable! It was the first company I called, then shopped around a bit, only to come back to them! On the day of the move, the movers were very chilled, laid-back but hard-working. Their relax state brought some ease and serenity on a day that's already stressful with last-minute packing, cleaning the house, etc. They were quick, but super careful about the furniture, making sure no surface or wall was scratched. If something needed to be taken apart, they did it and put back the furniture together upon arriving at the drop-off place. The movers did a great job at putting the furnishings and boxes in a place where it would make sense around the house and wouldn't be in the way. They offered to help with any heavy lifting before leaving and it was much appreciated. My perception of movers who don't really care about your belongings and furniture is gone (plus, I didn't take any insurance!). Thanks...
