We couldn't recommend the Wanaka airshow enough, a very special tribute to all who started the experience to what it represents now is nothing short of pure excellence. We went to the practice day and had a great view of what to be experienced and the whole event was well executed. The running commentary was a pleasure to listen too and the Australian airforce and the American Airforce were amazing. The pilots were true professional in their displays. Value for money was particularly worth it, with my personal favourite being the chance to see a flying Mosquito here in NZ. Thank you to the volunteers who were patient and very pleasant to talk too. To the sponsors who made this an amazing weekend you cannot be thanked enough, and to the organisers you should be very proud of a very special event that was nothing short of pure excellence!!! Many thanks plane...

Delighted with this success, he decided to expand on the theme and hold a biennial event over the long Easter weekend. As the show grew so did its support and now around 50,000 people make the pilgrimage to Wanaka for their weekend of excitement.
Now acclaimed as the largest Warbird Airshow in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the world's top four Warbird airshows, we will be celebrating 32 years of operating...
Read moreAwesome Airshow!! Extremely well organized. Heaps of different kinds of planes, Tiger moths, Harvards, L-39s an Avro Anson, a Mosquito, F-16 just to name a few! The flying displays were a decent length as well which was good. Ivan Krippner's aerobatic display in his Pitts Special was so cool! When the planes weren't flying, they were parked along the fence line which was good. They had shuttles running from Wanaka Lake front, Queenstown and other places is handy so you can avoid the traffic congestion. The event was completely sold out for Saturday and Sunday so definitely book your tickets well in advance. Also get there early and bring a chair to secure a good spot along the runway....
