My husband and I, along with our two American friends recently visited Waiheke Island. Our 5.5 hours itinerary was cleverly designed by Freedom Tours based on telephone conversations I had had with Lee. We decided to purchase reserved return tickets from the Fullers 360 ferry. After a lovely cruise across the water, Onny, our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, as well as being an expert driver, met us at the island ferry terminal at the appointed time and our wonderful day began. We toured around the island stopping to look at beautiful scenery along the way and made scheduled visits to the following:- -Tantalus Estate - Beautiful winery and brewery -The Heke Brewery & Distillery - A great place for lunch with lovely views -Man O’ War - A beautiful winery in a tropical looking beach setting -Passage Rock Estate - A lovely winery where the owner’s knowledgeable young son talked about his family’s wines -Not forgetting a delicious ice cream at Onetangi Beach Onny was the perfect tour guide happily sharing with us so much about his beautiful island. I cannot recommend Waiheke Freedom tours Highly enough. If you want to see as much as the island as possible with a very knowledgable local guide - this is the way to do it. My family and I (3 of us) have just spent a fantastic day with Onny (our guide). He took us to parts of the island via the back roads which you simply wouldn’t see on the bus. We had a lovely beach walk and visited 4 wineries/distilleries as well as having time for lunch at Man o War Vineyard - which is thoroughly recommended. From the moment we met Grant we realized our Waiheke VIP tour would be a special day. The island is a beautiful and special place boasting amazing beaches and views and excellent wineries and eateries.

Grant is an amazing tour guide. He is charismatic, professional and knowledgeable, and very proud of where he lives and what he does! It’s a great feeling visiting establishments and having your tour guide be on a first name basis with the owners. The advantage of the VIP tour is total flexibility, so by Grant taking the time to get to know us he really tailored the day. As an example we went to the gin distillery on the east of the island for a tasty gin and tonic and incredible views.
