If I could leave minus 5 stars I would, unfortunately leaving a review forces you to leave 1 star. I would avoid these people like the plague. I have never experienced such rude and disrespectful people in my life. I spoke to 2 females over the phone. The Italian woman who told me she was the MANAGER of the business is an extremely rude individual. I booked on my mobile phone via the booking.com website. On the day of the tour I was not provided with enough information to be able to join the tour. Trying to explain this was horrendous. I was spoken over the top of in the form of being yelling that I was at fault, I was wrong and they were not refunding my money and was hung up on! This was after the phone was handed from another female tour guide that I was at fault, who also yelled over the top of me, was extremely rude and would not listen. No matter who is at fault, a customer deserves to be heard, treated with respect, understanding and fairness. As a customer I booked this service in good faith, did not end up using this service due to lack of information and was refused a refund. This company kept my money for a service I didn't use. Absolutely disgusted with the entire experience. If you are looking to have an easy and enjoyable experience on Waiheke, this is not it. Book the Fullers 360 WAIHEKE VINEYARD EXPLORER for the hop on hop off bus at the AUCKLAND MARINA WHARF. A lovely man on at the tourist information counter helped me understand their lack of information. I booked a ticket through them that included the ferry to AND from DOWNTOWN AUCKLAND to WAIHEKE ISLAND, the explorer double decker bus and 3 wine tastings for the same price as this company charges.
To follow on from the response provided to my review above:
This is simply not true, but not surprising due to how your company chose to communicate with a customer. What a recorded call would document is staff yelling down the call and speaking over the top of me. I did book this service on booking.com, but as you refused to let me speak what I was trying to say, is that I offered to send you screenshots so we could come to a fair and just conclusion that the information provided on booking.com was not clear where the pick up point was. As I am a tourist, it would be in your best interest to review the information provided and adjust it, not try to defame me by lying to "protect your staff" who were unprofessional. How...
Read moreWe heard of Waiheke Wine Tours on Tripadvisor and booked a wine tasting tour through them. Right from the beginning, communication from the company was immediate and prompt which we appreciated. A day before our tour, our guide for the tour Mr David Morris messaged us which reassured us. We reached Waiheke early to escape the 10 am ferry rush and also have a look at the village. David was very kind to pick us up from the Ferry Terminal and drop us at the village when he heard of it. We had a lovely time at the village. Thereafter, we left on our scheduled wine tasting tour. We started with Mudbrick for wine tasting. Walking through rosemary shrubs on either side of the walkway, olive trees above tables - we fell in love with Waiheke. We enjoyed the wine tasting at Mudbrick. We thereafter visited Obsidian and Cable. We had a sumptuous lunch at Batch. The food was delicious and the views fabulous. But what made our visit more special was David. He is passionate about Waiheke and New Zealand. He shared history, and information about the island. He showed us around the island beyond the wineries, which we may have otherwise missed if we had visited on our own - astoundingly beautiful views of the sea, bay, the town, a plane making a landing, sculptures, flora and fauna of the island, sharing about Maori, assisting us take family pictures. We think it was his warmth and knowledge which added to the tour and made it a memorable experience for us. And the cherry on the top was that an illustrator Toby Morris whom we admired for his story on privilege, titled ‘On a plate’ ,turned out to be David’s nephew ! It’s a small...
Read moreMove over, Bacchus—there's a new wine deity in town, and his name is Grant! Our tour of Waiheke's finest vineyards wasn't just about sipping exquisite wines; it was a masterclass in hospitality and genuine charm led by the island's very own treasure.
From the moment we boarded the tour, Grant made us feel like old friends reuniting for a grand adventure. His encyclopedic knowledge of wine was matched only by his wit and warmth. Who else could seamlessly pair a robust Syrah with a hearty laugh?
As we meandered through the picturesque landscapes, Grant regaled us with stories that brought the history of Waiheke to life. His passion for both the island and its wines was as infectious as the laughter he sparked among our group. It wasn't just a tour; it was an experience curated by someone who truly loves what he does.
Grant is not just a guide; he's the heart and soul of the Waiheke Wine Tour company. His genuine hospitality turned a great trip into an unforgettable one. If you're contemplating a wine tour on Waiheke Island, do yourself a favor and book with Grant. Just be prepared—you might leave with a few extra bottles and a new...
