Whenever weâre in Waiheke Island, Te Moto is always on our list of places to visitâand once again, it lived up to expectations. The food and service are consistently great, and this time was no different.
Service: Holly was our waitress this evening, and she was excellent. Friendly, efficient, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Itâs the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of but not overwhelmed.
Food: We started with the Beef Carpaccio, and it was spot on. The beef was fresh, thinly sliced, and topped with a simple dressing and parmesan. Simple, but really tasty.
For the main, we went with the Ravioli. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the filling was rich but not too heavy. The sauce was just right, and it made for a really satisfying dish.
The Swordfish was another highlight. Cooked well, moist and flaky with a nice char on the outside. It came with a good side of seasonal veggies, and overall, it was just a solid, well-rounded dish.
The restaurant itself has a relaxed vibe, with great views. Itâs comfortable, not too fancy, but still a nice place to spend the evening. Whether youâre sitting inside or out, itâs a good spot to enjoy a meal.
If you're in Waiheke, Te Moto is a solid choice. The foodâs always good, the service is friendly, and the settingâs hard to beat. Holly made sure we were well looked after, and weâll definitely be back next time weâre on the island....
Read moreI visited The Shed @ Te Motu with a couple friends 2 weeks ago as part of a wine tour. Our server was very sweet, however the food took ages to get to our table. We arrived just after 2p and were told we couldn't order anything after 3p. We ordered by quarter after 2 and advised the server we would probably want to order more since they were small plates and we weren't sure how much to expect. We also advised we wanted our food out all at once. So what happened next, you ask? Our food came out one thing at a time. Slowly. Painfully slowly. After 3p we were still waiting for 1 item. We advised another server that we were waiting on that final item. She went to check on it, came back and told us that we got it already. At this point, I'm getting pretty agitated, "No, we absolutely did NOT get it yet." I'm pretty sure they just served it to the large party next to us that was getting all the attention and service as I did see the same dish get served to them after we'd ordered it. We finally did get the missing dish after complaining and it was just kinda meh. The food was all just kinda meh. One of the steak items had an entire piece of this little 10g "slab" of steak that was all gristle. By 3:30 we finally got the small amount of food we ordered at the start, had no time to order more, left hungry, and still spent a fortune. I could not recommend this...
Read moreReally disappointed with the food service, especially for the quantity. We were 8 people and 4 of us had the normal menu with fish amd meat and the quantity of those were really poor. Also, we got just a small dish of salad just for 4 people. Moreover, the dessert was something unpresentable and tasteless. It was like a banana smooth poured in simple glass that is meant to use to drink water. Last but not least, we asked for an extra portion of bread (4 slides) and they charged us 12$ out of the fixed price. For 90$ ( set up menu with 3 poor courses) i would expect something a bit better than what we had. Never been disappointed like that around wahieke. We won't come back!!!
Replying at your message, we did ask to the French lady (red hair if i well remember) that the charge for the bread was unfair, and she said NO. So you guys need to understand how the rules are in your restaurant and also that the 90 $ menu wasn't absolutely worth the food that you gave us. You will have to do better things rather than offer a rose bottle. You guys gotta learn how to really serve clients in order to get them back. I understand for fine dining that portions are small, but with simple products as you serve, at least the quantity...
