Whenever we’re in Waiheke Island, Te Moto is always on our list of places to visit—and once again, it lived up to expectations. The food and service are consistently great, and this time was no different.

Service: Holly was our waitress this evening, and she was excellent. Friendly, efficient, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. It’s the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of but not overwhelmed.

Food: We started with the Beef Carpaccio, and it was spot on. The beef was fresh, thinly sliced, and topped with a simple dressing and parmesan. Simple, but really tasty.

For the main, we went with the Ravioli. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the filling was rich but not too heavy. The sauce was just right, and it made for a really satisfying dish.

The Swordfish was another highlight. Cooked well, moist and flaky with a nice char on the outside. It came with a good side of seasonal veggies, and overall, it was just a solid, well-rounded dish.

The restaurant itself has a relaxed vibe, with great views. It’s comfortable, not too fancy, but still a nice place to spend the evening. Whether you’re sitting inside or out, it’s a good spot to enjoy a meal.

If you're in Waiheke, Te Moto is a solid choice. The food’s always good, the service is friendly, and the setting’s hard to beat. Holly made sure we were well looked after, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re on the island....

I visited The Shed @ Te Motu with a couple friends 2 weeks ago as part of a wine tour. Our server was very sweet, however the food took ages to get to our table. We arrived just after 2p and were told we couldn't order anything after 3p. We ordered by quarter after 2 and advised the server we would probably want to order more since they were small plates and we weren't sure how much to expect. We also advised we wanted our food out all at once. So what happened next, you ask? Our food came out one thing at a time. Slowly. Painfully slowly. After 3p we were still waiting for 1 item. We advised another server that we were waiting on that final item. She went to check on it, came back and told us that we got it already. At this point, I'm getting pretty agitated, "No, we absolutely did NOT get it yet." I'm pretty sure they just served it to the large party next to us that was getting all the attention and service as I did see the same dish get served to them after we'd ordered it. We finally did get the missing dish after complaining and it was just kinda meh. The food was all just kinda meh. One of the steak items had an entire piece of this little 10g "slab" of steak that was all gristle. By 3:30 we finally got the small amount of food we ordered at the start, had no time to order more, left hungry, and still spent a fortune. I could not recommend this...

Really disappointed with the food service, especially for the quantity. We were 8 people and 4 of us had the normal menu with fish amd meat and the quantity of those were really poor. Also, we got just a small dish of salad just for 4 people. Moreover, the dessert was something unpresentable and tasteless. It was like a banana smooth poured in simple glass that is meant to use to drink water. Last but not least, we asked for an extra portion of bread (4 slides) and they charged us 12$ out of the fixed price. For 90$ ( set up menu with 3 poor courses) i would expect something a bit better than what we had. Never been disappointed like that around wahieke. We won't come back!!!

Replying at your message, we did ask to the French lady (red hair if i well remember) that the charge for the bread was unfair, and she said NO. So you guys need to understand how the rules are in your restaurant and also that the 90 $ menu wasn't absolutely worth the food that you gave us. You will have to do better things rather than offer a rose bottle. You guys gotta learn how to really serve clients in order to get them back. I understand for fine dining that portions are small, but with simple products as you serve, at least the quantity...

The Te Motu winery is a culinary jewel in the crown of beautiful Waiheke Island. My chicken liver parfait accompanied by braised peaches, an excellent jelly of elderflower and housemade bread was an epiphany excelling all my expectations. Steeled by this experience I awaited my main course to be of excellency but even this was outperformed: The Wagyiu steak coming with three different types of beetroot, tiny blobs of blue cheese sauce and some absolutely fresh watercress brought the promises of heaven to earth. The quality of meat (and believe me, I know what I'm talking about) was fantastic. But still there was a desert pending. And it was a local cheese, fresh, but of an impressing intensity in taste that could only be captured by the locally raised plums braised with thyme. If there had only been food this would have been a very good meal, but the house made wine (a red te motu 2009 for the meet and, most surpringsingly excellent, a desert wine called “Nectar”), the beautiful view and the excellent service (with an pleasant french accent) made this an unforgettable experience. And yes: The kitchen is tiny and if the place is overcrowded there may be a delay. But who cares to be waiting in this ambience for excellent food.

We have visited most of the Vineyard's on Waiheke and this is up there with the best in terms of quality of food. The location is nice and pleasant and is beautiful on a sunny day, but the location does not have the sweeping views of some of the other vineyards. Back to the food, it was delicious and of high quality. The waiter who served us was great and had excellent customer service. I believe the head chef even came out and spoke to us about the food, he was a cool dude. I have one piece of constructive feedback, which is about the one waiter that seated us. He said to us we needed to sit at the tables that are closer to the kitchen as there were only two wait staff working . This seemed odd as the entire serving floor area was quite small and when outside you wanted the best possible view. As the day went on the place was quite full and people were sitting everywhere, so in the end it would not have mattered where we sat. In the end we moved where we wanted as the other staff had no problem with it. So for this last reason, I would give the Food a 5 out of 5 and service a 4 out of 5. I do recommend coming here for delicious quality food.

We stopped by Te Motu on our first night in New Zealand during a 3 week trip. Probably the best dining experience of the trip. We walked over from Stoneyridge right before 5. The tasting room was closing, but they let us taste a couple wines anyway while another group finished up. We loved The Strip and bought a bottle (and bought 2 more bottles later in our trip from a store in Queenstown to take home with us). The guy in the tasting room coordinated with the manager to get us a table at their restaurant - The Shed when they opened at 6pm for their Friday dinner and poured us a couple glasses of wine while we waited. The whole experience was perfect. The Shed is beautiful and quaint. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. The wine was great. The food was exceptional (one of my all-time top meals). If I make it back to Waiheke Island, this is definitely my dinner spot, EVERY time. LOVE.
