Really had a nice time... I've got the gnocchi, the green salad, smoked kahawai, the salad of the day courgette flower and for dessert the strawberry coconut yoghurt and rhubarb. Gnocchi was good but could have been done better, searing the gnocchi or maybe searing the asparagus, cause at the end, everything was just boiled and was missing some texture or technique to kick up the flavour. That would have bring the wow effect that I'm looking when I go eat somewhere. The green salad, got my attention because there are nectarine in the menu description... Unfortunately, they are so finely sliced, you don't get the flavour of them and wedges would have been more than welcome. I would suggest to even grilled them to empower they flavour into the dish. The smoked kahawai was missing the balance of all the ingredients together. Very powerful fish taste and smell, you need to find the right balance to combine everything that goes with to make a party into your pallet. Wasn't my favorite one. The courgette salad, was really really nice, the combinaison of the dressing with the raisin, the zucchini and the battered courgette flower was stunning. Really enjoyed that one. For dessert, the sundae was missing the sweetness of the strawberries, same for the rhubarb and the coconut yogurt made the dessert too heavy. You want some sweet at the end of a meal to get the sensory satiety, which brings you the feeling of satisfaction. Don't get me wrong about the food, it was good, but I feel like they are very close to excell... First meal on Waiheke Island as recommended by our host at the Nikau. Luckily they had a table for two available as it was quite busy. Beautiful setting right across from the road from the Onetangi beach, ideal to have a neat walk up and down the beach then cross the road for dinner. Lovely very well presented building in and outside, very well set up horse shoe bar with lots of room to sit and drink, snack and watch the barman do his cocktail works plus general chat, also with the patrons sitting alongside. Great outdoor seating with lovely ambiance. Now the menu and food, the menu isn't huge but the selection is very good with something to cover nearly all tastes. We both had an entree and a main each with a side bowl of very tasty potatoes, white and a black variety I've never seen before, sprinkled with butter and a cheese sauce. Everything was of a high standard in taste especially and great presentation. The owner was lovely and can be very proud of her staff, who were friendly, attentive and happy, first class. Plus the flatwhite coffee was excellent and...

We had a group booking for last Saturday which we were recommended to by staff at Wilde however we didn't get a chance to actually try anything I wanted to leave feedback. From arrival staff were friendly showed us to our table to which we were asked what type of water the table would like.... From there that's where the service ended. No one returned with our water.. We watched 2-3 different waiters attend to all the tables around us multiple times but not once did anyone look at our table or come back. The table next to us received their drinks then their entrees and even finished those during this time whilst we we were waiting. For about 25mins or more we waited patiently but decided out of principal to move on. Paying those prices definitely deserved some level of service not none. When I quietly went to one of the waiters to let him know we were leaving and why, he snapped very rudely back "she is busy! She is over near your table and busy but whatever they will give the table to someone else" lovely service and attitude. A simple apology would have...

Once again a fantastic visit. The menu has changed many times across my visits, but it's always remained great. Staff are great, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Just can't beat it for a great meal, or sunny day or drinks on the island. Another fantastic visit! The food, service and atmosphere continue to be just outstanding. It's a must visit place on Waiheke. This has to be one of the best places on Waiheke. If you want a lovely sit-down lunch or dinner, or if you want something more casual with easy bites and drinks this is a fantastic option. I've been here at least 5 times now and Ive had nothing but good experiences. The staff are fantastic and friendly and if you aren't up to ordering they are great at sorting things out for you. They have a great wine and beer selection, and they have food ranging from bar snacks like excellent fried chicken and fries, to amazing hanger steaks and other often changing delights. And all that before the brilliant location on the beach front of Onetangi.

Beware of selective/discriminatory service from a mature male server. We were in line for an outdoor table, only to be asked by the mature gentlemen to follow him inside rudely. He asked us to wait by the entrance inside and took menus out to greet two Caucasians who came in after us. Enthusiastically brought them to a table while we watched. The female staffs who attended to us after that were very accommodating. Problem seems to be from the gentleman only, who was selectively polite and professional to the other Caucasians dining around. He ignored us throughout the dining experience, only to bring out our fish from the kitchen. Nothing wrong with the food and environment here. The lady staffs were great too. Just beware the one server, unless he approves of you.
