Aotea Lagoon is an excellent place to go for some family fun! The lagoon itself is great for walking around, the pump track is quite fun to ride around and the newly opend workout area is nice. There is normally a coffee cart their and Mr Whippy turns up on busy days/holidays and on Sundays, their are kid train rides around the lagoon! I would recommend going here for these holidays, take some kai and chill out in the sun ☀️

Best local play park (second only to Avalon park in my experience). It's amazing. Our toddler loves the fenced section set up for his age group. The section of the park for older kids looks fantastic and I can't wait to see him graduate onto it.

The new splash pad is great. Really well designed. Brings a lot of joy to a lot of kids.

Then if course there is the lagoon itself. A short, pleasant walk suitable for strollers. And a train ride if your kids fancy it.

In addition (and critically) there is a coffee cart on most days that also sells roti and affagato.

The naps say there is a fernery and a petanque pitch. Although I haven't seen them.

Come...

Awesome retreat off motor way by Police college. Great for families to have BBQ’s and picnics with shaded areas and tables. As my 2 year old grandson says ‘fun day at lagoon.’ Children’s play area is fun and there is a giant splash pad and at centre a giant bucket that fills with water and tips out. A train operates and there is an ice cream van but neither was there on Saturday and it was a beautiful day. Two sets of toilets with soap and paper one was clean the other a tad messy. Some days stingrays have been sighted and today jumping fish. Overall a great place to tire...

This is still a great place to take kids to since I was a kid in the 1990's. The Train is still going though now only on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

The new water feature and park looks great and is good fun for the kids including the giant bucket that tips water over all the kids.

Only downside is the lagoon has degraded ( looks dirty and bad ) since I last saw it years ago. Guess it's not feed by the sea any longer which did keep it somewhat clean. FYI = I found one or two Oysters in there once years ago though didn't see anything...
