I had the pleasure of stopping here twice in the last few days. The first was an impromptu, late lunch. Then I stopped back in hopes of trying their 'pulled smoked salmon' sandwich. Here is why you should stop in: Tasty food, prepared fresh for you; Great value; Friendly, helpful staff; prompt, professional service; cool place to walk around and take pictures; great shop of local stuff - chocolates, Lofoten Seaweed Salt, smoked whale meat, dried cod and stockfish, and many other cool things to check out. They have nice, bright, clean bathrooms too! I am on this long road trip, sort of bee-bopping down Lofoten. As I drove along, a little after the lunch hour, I saw this place that is so convenient. They are literally right off the main road. Just turn in to the parking lot and park for free! Of course, I stopped, and I am glad I did. I took one look at that menu and saw that pulled smoked salmon sandwich. I was in the Southern US just a few weeks ago eating pulled pork sandwiches and BBQ, so, of course, I had to try their Pulled Salmon. It must be really, damm good, because they were out of that particular menu item. The pulled salmon is a warm smoked salmon, which is different than the cold smoked salmon. They had plenty of the regular, cold smoked salmon. Times being what they are, I did not let 'out of stock' get me down. Instead, I ordered the Fish Soup, and I am glad I did. That fish soup came out hot and tasty with big chunks of cod (Torsk) and salmon in a creamy broth. They serve it with a fresh baguet and butter. That soup is the star of the show though. The fish was super tasty. It was not so fishy as to offend my 'American' taste buds. The broth was rich and satisfying. I had my doubts about that dried cod, so I asked a lady who was working behind the counter about it. She took the time to come out and show me around and explain the different items and tastes and that sort of thing, which I really appreciated. Service is still service, and they did a great job of it, with a smile. I got a package of that dried cod snack and some smoked whale meat. A few days later, I went back in hopes of trying that pulled smoked salmon. They were still out. Sad face! I ordered The cold smoked salmon sandwich and got my happy face back. They served it up quick along with a Midnight Sun tea and a big, chocolate chip cookie for desert. That salmon sandwich was crammed full of sliced, smoked salmon and crunchy, fresh greens. It had a bit of dressing on it, but not so much that it took over the sandwich, if you know what I mean. It was well balanced. I appreciated that they had that sandwich in a little piece of wax paper, so I could really dig in, without worrying about getting dressing and smoked salmon all over my hands. This is a delightful place. If you are driving down E10, you will drive right by it. Stop in and check it out for a meal, just a look around, or shopping for authentic stuff of Norway. This might be the best, overall place to stop and eat between ...

There aren’t many places in the area for food because the terrain is small and difficult to build on and it is also kept very natural. So, that’s not a criticism it’s just something to be aware of (few options).

So, this place attracts a lot of people and has adapted to be very touristic in feeling. It can feel like a tourist trap and inauthentic but that’s a bit inescapable given the context above.

My suggestion would be to alter your eating time to avoid the tourist crowds and buses.

The place has lots of preserved food you can buy to take back home. There aren’t actually many options of places to buy that sort of stuff so I would recommend getting that stuff here if you’re in the area.

Now, we weren’t dead set on eating whale but we were aware that Norway is one of the few (the only?) place(s) in the world where you can steal consume whale meat. So, we settled on giving it a go given its cultural roots to Norway and locals’ historical ways of living.

It was an interesting texture and taste. Somewhere in between beef texture with a hint of fish undertones in flavour. It isn’t the sort of thing you will regret not eating in case your moral compass is pushing you to avoid it. I hope that’s helpful in you deciding whether to try it.

We also had a salmon sandwich. That...

Nice place, food and coffee are fine, staff is efficient, it is however really sad that the owner is only after your money. We headed for this place on a cold, windy and rainy day after having biked for 4 days from svolvaer. The owner made us leave her place because we had been there for "too long"... She argued we had been "camping there for 5 hours". Well we had been there for 3 hours, over which we ordered: 2 waffles, 2 cinnamon buns, 4 cappuccinos, 1 coffee, 1 one hot chocolate and 2 fish burgers. We were not even done our last sip and I was busy breastfeeding our 5 months old when we were aggressively asked to leave. We asked for an explanation and we told that we were "too hippy" and taking too much space and not tidy enough (my husband had taken his dampen hiking boots off and put them in a corner to put dry socks on). Conclusion: owner likes tourist with nice shirts and a lot of money who quickly head back to their nice cars....

I loved this place! We arrived one rainy afternoon (not a surprise in Lofoten) in October after we noticed that the most restaurants in Lofoten were not open due to the low season, and just before they closed, hoping to still get a good taste of Lofoten fish…and they welcomed us warmly and would extend their opening time for us a bit longer. We tried 3 variation of fish burgers with different combinations of salmon, fish cake and shrimps(see the pics) and the fish soup. All are delicious and perfect for a cold windy rainy day😃 the interior is interesting with all possible fish and fishing hut elements. Also very cozy. The view outside is also wonderful… we also bought some fish snacks from their famous stock fish and I have been eating them on our roadtrip after that! So recommend this place really and I think in summer one would have more choices so don’t miss it!
