My wife and I bought round-trip tickets for the cable car. After we took the ride up the mountain, the weather changed drastically, and the cable car was shut down. We were informed that we could get a refund if we didn’t want to wait. Since we didn’t have much time, we decided to hike down.
Halfway down, it started pouring rain and hailing heavily. We got completely soaked, and my power bank stopped working because it got wet.
The descent was extremely dangerous — everything was slippery, there was heavy rain and cold, large hailstones.
After we finally made it down, we went to the ticket counter. The young man working there refused to refund the full ticket price, saying that since we used the cable car to go up, we had to pay for that. He offered to exchange our ticket for one 160 NOK cheaper. The payment terminal didn’t work at the time, so he wrote down my bank account number and said I would receive a 360 NOK refund the next day.
Well, the next day has come — and the money still hasn’t arrived!
In the end, I paid 1120 NOK, got completely drenched, and had to deal with extremely rude and unhelpful customer service.
Later, we found out that these kinds of situations happen there quite frequently — for example, the cable car didn’t run at all the day before. According to the rules on their website, they take no responsibility whatsoever and guarantee nothing.
I absolutely do NOT...
Read moreA great way to really appreciate the stunning scenary of this beautiful port. The gondolas are big, about the size of a minibus and take about 30 or so people at a time, but there's plenty of room so you don't feel crammed in. You can easily walk around in the gondola if you want to get photos on the way. The only thing I didn't like much is when you get to the top, the platform you exit the gondala from is a metal mesh platform that you can see straight down through and didn't do much for my virtigo, but I was brave and kept looking up :-) I would highly recommend this ride just for the views, but what's even better is the amazing restaurant at the top. The information says that the gondolas go every 30 minutes, but it was quite busy when we were there and they just kept going as soon as they were full so it avoided big queues building up. The staff were all very...
Read moreIt is a very nice experience, however it is only a 5 minute ride and it costs a lot, one adult 450 NOK, about 45 Euros, up and down. When you get on the top you can of course enjoy the view as long as you wish. If you are more than seven people I would be early to ensure that get the same ride. The online purchase didn't work, but there were ticket machines at the "station". Nice crew. We had a wagon all to ourselves 12 people. It was plenty of space for us, but if there is 40 people, you will probably not be able to move around freely and get the best of the marvelous views. You can also by ticket only one way if you would like to take the hike the other. If you do, please read about the hike first. The station and the wagon is suitable for wheelchairs. However again I would recommend going when there are less people if possible, to get the most...
