Going the Extra Mile: Andrei's Dedication to Finding the Northern Lights

If you are serious about seeing the Northern Lights and want a guide who is as passionate about the experience as you are, look no further than Andrei (Alan) at Enjoy the Arctic tours. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

From the moment we embarked on our tour, it was clear that Andrei's knowledge of the Northern Lights phenomenon and the microclimate around Tromso was unmatched. The weather forecast on the night of our tour was far from promising, and many other tours had already given up. But not Andrei. His dedication and determination to provide us with the best possible chance of witnessing the aurora were truly inspiring.

Andrei drove us all the way from Tromso, Norway, through Finland, and close to the Swedish border—covering incredible distances in pursuit of clear skies. We spent over 10 hours chasing the elusive lights, and just when we thought it might not happen, we were rewarded with a breathtaking display of the Northern Lights. It was an unforgettable experience, made even more special by Andrei's commitment and expertise.

Not only did Andrei ensure we saw the aurora, but he also captured stunning photos of us with the lights—a treasure for life. While we were waiting for the lights to appear, he made the experience even more memorable by lighting up a fire and serving us warm drinks and delicious cake. These thoughtful touches added so much warmth and comfort to the adventure.

Some negative reviews mention the unpredictability of the Northern Lights, and while it is true that patience is required, Andrei does everything in his power to maximize your chances of success. If you understand that nature cannot be controlled and are prepared for a genuine adventure, Andrei is the perfect guide to make it happen.

This tour is not just about seeing the aurora; it's about trusting someone who will go above and beyond to help you achieve your dream. Andrei's passion, perseverance, and in-depth understanding of the region set him apart from others. If you're looking for a tour that prioritizes dedication and expertise, book with Andrei at Enjoy the Arctic—you...

Amazing tour by Andrei. Beautiful minibus with charging points and lots of space. The direction and location of where you go is determined by the weather. We went quite far (around 80-90 miles) and was TOTALLY worth it. When we got out of the minibus at our stop it was cloudy with just some green shining through the clouds. Andrei set up a fire with hot drinks, cake, marshmallows and snacks. Because we was with an experienced guide who had contact with other northern lights chasers he knew to wait in that area. And he was right. We were rewarded with an amazing natural light show! We stayed there for hours watching. Andrei took loads of photos (and sent them to us the next day all included) and they were amazing. Everytime the lights got stronger we grabbed the camera and took more shots and just enjoyed the view. On the way home he stopped the van and said everyone get ready to leave, we jumped out and the sky was unbelievable! Greens, pinks, reds and even purples all dancing above us. Once again Andrei took out his camera and took pictures of everyone with the amazing show behind us. You wont get that on a coach tour! And then he dropped us off directly at our hotel at 2.30am. What an evening! I couldnt recommend this tour more! Why go on a coach of 50 people when you go with a small tour, on roads a coach cannot get to, so you get the best locations to see the lights. 100% recommend for service, knowledge and the overall experience!! Thanks...

Fantastic Northern Lights tour with Enjoy the Arctic!! - October 2019

After doing extensive research on all different companies providing NL tours in Tromsø, we decided to book our tour with Enjoy the Arctic. With a group of 5 people in total, our amazing host Andrei drove us to a beach about 45 mins above Tromsø were we got out of the car to spot the Northern Lights. Luckily for us, we saw the lights very early - only 15 minutes after getting out of the car and even before setting up the campfire. Soon after, the northern lights got brighter and brighter and we got to take amazing pictures! Andrei brought thermo-suits, food to eat around the campfire (sausages, yum!), hot drinks, tripods for your professional camera/phone and he knows so much about the weather and constellations that it is a joy to listen to him while gazing at the NL and stars above you. Andrei was the perfect host (and a safe driver), always making sure we were comfortable, warm and got the best view of the Northern Lights. My sister has zero photography experience, but bought a good Canon camera especially for this trip and to take pictures of the NL. Andrei really helped her to take beautiful pictures (see pictures attached - no filters needed!). Would definitely go on this tour with Enjoy the Arctic again next time...

Was initially trying to book for 23 Dec but no slot available. However, I kept on checking if someone cancel their trip since the review was just too good. I am happy that I finally got last minute slot so I could see the greatest light show on earth with enjoy the arctic. It was completely cloudy at first and did not expect to much but Horia did his magic😁. He tried his best to make sure that we, the first-timers, saw the beautiful Aurora. At the first stop, we saw a slighlty weak Aurora but quickly got covered by the cloud. We then drove further away until we found a better one with a clearer sky. Then magic happened as the Aurora getting stronger and bigger. We even saw the dancing Aurora!!!. Thank you for making the trip unforgatable Horia. No wonder so many reviews I read mentioned Horia. He was very kind, helpful, enthusiastic and humorous. If the weather is not good enough to see Aurora from places around tromso, the trip will go further away near Finland border where the weather is a bit crazy. It was -18°C when we were there so, make sure you wrapped up well for the trip. Hand warmer or foot warmer will be very helpful otherwise you won't be able to stay outside and see the Aurora longer.

I don’t know where to start aside from BOOK THIS IMMEDIATELY!! Go into this experience with the notion you might not see the lights and embrace the experience itself. Part of the enjoyment is the chase and the other part is the incredible guide (we had Horia). Horia was amazing. So I had actually booked for the previous night but I got a call to say that there was no chance of seeing them and they changed the booking for the next night. Many companies wouldn’t do that. In fact I know of one person who had booked a different company and they went ahead despite there being zero chance. Horia explained what the Aurora Borealis is, how it works, and seasonal differences as well as the solar cycle. Fascinating. He built a fire, we had delicious cake, and coffee/tea around a camp fire. Horia knew what he was doing, he has a decade of experience. The lights weren’t very strong & we had cloud coverage but with the hurdles it made the experience even more special. BOOK IT. Immediately!
