Homely guest house with character and charm. The mountain view from the 1st floor kitchen and lounge is Majestic! It was a complete joy to be greeted by this view every morning.
The house is very clean, rooms are simply stylish, they will appeal to those who appreciate the vintage touches. The kitchen is well equipped and organised.
The cats are very chilled they just relax and do their thing, clearly very used to sharing their home.
Julien and his mum were lovely host very friendly and warm. I had some nice conversations with them both.
I did the fjords and beaches tour which was beautiful and Luis our guide shared lots of interesting historical insights.
It snowed heavily during my stay, bring your snow spikes they are a must on the hill up to the house. If you checkout before your flight departs or on-ward journey luggage can be stored at the Prostneset bus terminal. I paid 80 nok for a cabin sized suitcase.
During my stay I met some lovely guests in the house, and we chatted over meals and exchanged the experiences of our trip. I made friends with a guest, and we are still in contact.
If you're an independent traveller you will love the vibe and atmosphere of this traditional converted house. The entrance has retro tiled flooring and under floor heating. This house has a personality and to me beats staying in a bland hotel. Even though there are 4 floors everyone was very considerate, and noise is kept to a minimum. I must say I really loved the shower pressure!
As a solo traveller I felt very comfortable and safe in the house. It’s easy to walk into the centre. I found a short cut behind the fire station building parallel to the main road. At night there is plenty of street lamp posts.
Overall, the hospitality and management of the house is excellent.
Thank you to the whole team I had a great stay and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of joining Boukersen Heim on their Northern Lights Chase Tour, and it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. Our guide, Alba, was nothing short of exceptional—knowledgeable, passionate, and personable, he made the entire evening feel seamless and exciting. Along with Martin, the owner and our driver, we felt in great hands. Martin's driving was smooth and safe, and you could tell he really cared about making the night special.
The thermal suits provided were a real game-changer. As we ventured into the cold wilderness in search of the Northern Lights, the suits kept us incredibly warm and comfortable, allowing us to focus on the beauty of the sky above us rather than worrying about the cold.
One of the highlights of the tour was definitely the reindeer sausage and hot drinks served around a fire. Sitting by the fire, savoring the delicious food and drink, the care for sustainability was shown. The care and attention to detail in every part of the experience, from the food to the personal touches, made it clear how much the team at Bourkersen Heim cares about their guests.
We were also given great photography tips, ensuring that everyone was able to capture the best possible shots of the Northern Lights. As an added bonus, we were treated to a free portrait taken by the guide, a perfect souvenir to remember the night.
The grand finale of the tour was a beautiful display of fireworks, lighting up the night sky as we took the tour on New Year’s Eve. It was an unforgettable end to an unforgettable evening.
If you're looking for a truly special way to experience the Northern Lights, I can't recommend Bourkersen Heim enough. The combination of amazing guides, fantastic warmth, delicious food, and incredible attention to detail made this tour a...
Read morePlease save yourself from booking here, inconvenience, loud, not homey and lack of communication after check in. Honestly I wish we could have stayed an extra day at Bramy Apartments. This is a HOSTEL not a hotel. You will have a shared bathroom and kitchen, no breakfast, and the steepest hill ever (lots of ice) without any parking. The nearest overnight parking is 10+ minutes away, not 4, 5, or 6. We misread our directions and came a day early, they were pleasant then, we left and came back the next day- and after check in our outlets stopped working. No extra heater (thank God I will say the house was warm luckily) no extra bed light, and no ability to charge our phone despite leaving early for home this AM. Honestly a nightmare for the cost. I recommend anywhere else. I’m not sure how all the reviews are so high…..and you are expected to clean a bit , or a lot more than your average hotel because it is so much shared space. It was 39F / 3.8C I’m not sure why our hard to shut window was left open upon our arrival. Did it smell that bad prior? I received plenty of contact-until we needed help with the electricity. I’ll choose elsewhere on our next stay. Honestly I want to dispute charges with my card it was so bad, and we stayed at 3 other locations in Norway without problem. In the last photo luckily things had began melting because otherwise it was exhausting making it up and down hill. I get this is a pedestrian city, but there needs to be an easier way to park or get here. Beds were. 2 doubles...
