Mutrah Fish Market is a wonderful place to explore the fresh bounty of the Omani sea. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with vibrant energy, the sound of fishermen calling out their catches, and rows of gleaming fish laid out on ice.
You’ll find all kinds of fresh, local seafood here – from snapper and kingfish to squid and lobster. My personal favorite is the yellowfin tuna – its rich flavor and firm texture make it perfect for grilling, sushi, or even a simple pan-sear at home.
This market isn’t just for buying fish; it’s also a cultural experience. The modern, airy design blends perfectly with the traditional fishing heritage of Mutrah. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just want to soak in the atmosphere, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Read moreThe smell is wonderful.
Got here a bit before 8am, just when they started to open and the vendors put up their catches. The smell is my favorite memory of this place... it's the scent of the sea and not at all a "fishy" smell. It's a lot smaller than other travel sites make it out to be, but it's still very much worth the experience of visiting.
There is lots of free parking if you just follow the GPS to the fish market... it will lead you to a lot.
Make sure to go in...
