We came here for dinner on our last night in muscat. We were in the area and felt like having grilled fish so we found this place in google. Initially we were greeted and asked which fish we wanted. After that we were seated outside. They had reserved a table for 8 people of various european nationalities. We were right next to them and we’re not given any starters/water or condiments. (We are an Arab group) Once that group of tourists arrive they had treated them very warmly and immediately served all their starters and provided tissue/condiments etc. This was not the case with us, we had to ask for all of it and then our food came 30+ mins later. After that I had asked for some tea and mint after seeing that they served it to the table next to us. When I asked for mint the manager Mohammed said I there is no mint! I asked again to make sure and he asked he insisted. So i asked how come the other table have mint? And he then proceeded to ask the waiter to get some. Food was mediocre but honestly the service made this whole experience unpleasant. When we told the manager that we weren’t satisfied with the service he responded aggressively and said I know what I am doing. Honestly, it’s a shame to have such an experience in a very hospitable country. If you want a pleasurable experience and good seafood we wouldn’t recommend this place. I am leaving here...
Read moreThe standout feature here is that you have the opportunity to personally select the fish, shrimp, or squid you want to enjoy. They then prepare it according to your preferences and serve it to your table within a reasonable hour.
During our visit, we tried the grilled fish and calamari curry, both priced by their weight, eliminating any surprises in the final bill. The fish was skillfully cooked with a delightful blend of spices, while the calamari curry had a rich and flavorful taste but a bit of color.
For the food, I would rate it a solid 7 out of 10.
However, it's worth noting that the dining area is on the smaller side, offering three tables within cabins for families and additional seating in an open area. Each table is separated by curtains, which can hinder communication with the staff. If you need assistance, you might have to step outside to seek someone's attention.
The cleanliness of the washroom and handwashing facilities was acceptable, though not exceptional. The serving staff was attentive and helpful, although some might prefer them to be more reserved in conversation.
A convenient perk is the availability of public parking spaces right in front of the restaurant. Overall, it's a quaint spot with fresh and tasty seafood options that deserve consideration, despite some minor drawbacks in the...
Read moreThis was our best dining experience throughout a week in Oman!!
It is right across from the fish market. When you walk in, the owner will greet you and hand you a menu. You can select your fish from the case of whole, fresh fish. Then you tell him how you want it prepared (in our case, grilled and spicy), and what extras you want (bread, rice, drinks etc). We didn't know what size of fish to get so he picked for us--and it was perfect.
The fish was SOO good. We also ordered shrimp/squid mixed tagine which was also excellent (and also made with fresh seafood from the display case).
The owner was so friendly throughout the process. At the end of the meal he was thankful to us, like we did HIM a favor.
The whole grilled fish, mixed tagine, two garlic naans, and two sodas cost only 6OMR!
They accept credit cards, and there is plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant and across the street at the fish market. Be sure to sit outside in...
