Quinta Do Lago is a fantastic course in superb condition. Really enjoyed playing it. I live in Monterey CA so I've played Pebble Beach, Spyglass, etc., etc., therefore I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to golf courses. And this was impressive. The only thing negative..there's some degree of stuffiness/ aloofness to this place. Check in was a rather cold and impersonal experience, and after that there just wasn't the attentiveness you'd expect for a facility of this level, with its price tag. No one taking your bag upon arrival and putting it in a cart, no one offering to wipe down your clubs, no bag tag as a token of their appreciation and to remember your experience. And there were holiday festivities going on across the street where the practice facility is so that was completely shut down. Very disappointing given I got there really early to practice and get loose. But that was just bad timing and those things happen. In spite of the lack of personal touches, I'd play this course again because it was beyond my expectations. To be honest I didn't have high expectations for Portugal golf...SURPRIIISE. Between Quinta do Lago and the Old Course at Vilamoura, I was blown away. But they could take a page from the nearby Old Course at Villamoura. Villamoura staff went out of their way to take care of me in and out of the clubhouse. Even came out to check on me after the first 9 and after 18 were there to shower me with appreciation and a beautiful metal bag tag. But I highly recommend playing here just for the...
Read moreIn the end, so disappointing. The course is tough and beautiful and the staff are nice. Then it went a bit off. Pulling up, the attendants couldn’t be bothered to help unload clubs. No notice was given when booking online the day before that it was cart paths only on a bone dry course. This is a big course. On the turn, they added a foursome which slowed play. We waited for 15 mins on each tee box. The Marshall said nothing could be done, particularly as a tournament went off in the morning(another surprise) and play could not speed up. They charge 8 euro for poor quality range balls which is in a circus like artificial turf environment, and 55 for the cart. 5.5 hour round with slow greens. Go to any other high end non Quinta do Lago course and they will treat you so well, particularly at Dom Pedro. I have now played them all. Skip Quinta which is the most expensive and least customer service high end golf group in the Algarve. It’s just a money grab at 209 euro plus cart etc, with the bait being a nice course....
Read moreIncredible Course! Had read a lot of reviews before playing and a constant theme was the slow play and time it took to get through the round. Any course like this where tee times are every 8 mins will always mean there is elements of waiting but the course is so nice just relax and enjoy it.
We walked it and if you can I don’t know why you wouldn’t. Walking down some of the amazing fairways was the best part about it.
Course immaculate condition and Green Speeds were 10.5 when we played which we found great and not too fast as amateur golfers. All an all an amazing course and a very...
