The part of the levada east of the Encumedea snack bar is currently closed (20 Dec 2023), as is the trail below it leading to the mountains, due to work on the hydroelectric plant. You can only get about 10 minutes down it from the snack bar. Go west on the levada following PR17 instead, on the other side of the road and through the tunnel - a brilliant hike. Or instead at the tunnel, follow the leftward levada ('Levada das Rabacas') to its end.

There are spectacular views to the south along the valley towards Ribeira Brava and east towards the Curral das Freiras mountain range.

Il y a au moins 3 belles cascades qui sont vraiment magnifiques sur le chemin. Prenez un kway et un pull car il peut faire assez froid et venteux par contre, mais ça s’améliore au fur et à mesure que la levada s’enfonce dans la forêt.

Sehr schöner Wanderweg. Man geht entlang der Levada bis man zum Staudamm gelangt. Von dort geht ein enger Treppenweg steil bergab. Insgesamt ist man ca. 2h unterwegs. Der Zustieg ist jedoch etwas schwierig zu finden. Man geht direkt nach der Snack Bar (von Riviera Brava kommend) Rechts die kleinen Stufen hinauf und dann sieht man sofort die Levada. Absolute Empfehlung wenn man nicht so lange wandern möchte und trotzdem einen wundervollen Ausblick...
