Kosmaj — Local services in City of Belgrade

We took a walk from the Tresije Monastery to the Kosmaj WWII and WWI monuments. The first part of the hike was a bit steep but after that it was pretty easy. Along the way there are plenty of picnic areas. Nice day trip out of Belgrade. I'd recommend dropping the car off at the Tresije Monastery at the bottom of Kosmaj and hiking up. It will take about 45min to get to the main monument and then another 30min to come back down. Disclaimer, there is no clear view from the top, just the monument.

Planina Kosmaj sa 626 m nadmorske visine je druga najniža planina u Srbiji a nalazi se u okolini Mladenovca. Planina je bogata izvorima zdrave vode i ima ih blizu 100. Nekada je Kosmaj bio spojen sa Avalom i činili su poluostrvo u Panonskom moru. Naziv Kosmaj potiče od keltske reči "cos" što znači šuma i stare indoevropske reči "maj" što je značilo planina. Na vrhu Mali Vis dominira spomenik "Palim Borcima Kosmajskog odreda" palim u Drugom svetskom ratu. Spomenik deluje veoma upečatljivo i ima 5 duplih krakova koji su posvećeni okruzima i gradovima koji su se borili za slobodu. Planina je odlična za pešačenje i boravak u prirodi sa decom jer su sa svih strana prisutne staze i putići kroz šumu. U blizini je drveni vidikovac sa koga se pruža prelep pogled i manastir koga možete obići kada poželite da predahnete.
