They should have signs up saying cashless bar, etc. Some people are off the grid that way and only do cash. Service was non existing. The salad I got with my food, was sandy and when I told the lady who served us, she never commented. I was not trying to get a free meal, or discount, just at least acknowledge and say you'll look into it and apologies on be half of. For a place trying to project such class, seem to forget that anyone who is everyone working there is an extension of their name, so should have the farms name in high regard. But instead will be judged accordingly & so it spreads. Unfortunately, we can't run away from bad service anywhere anymore. Social media is "Big Brother" Security staff there(start to end) where the most friendly, thank you🙏 Not a place I will visit again in a hurry, but will eventually give them a 2nd chance to see if they have jacked up on above mentioned issues. Please take this as constructive criticism and not as a bad...
Read moreBlaauwklippen in Stellenbosch is a lovely wine farm. It has vendors selling various things like clothes, jewellery, sweets, household items and other things that you would get at a more upmarket market. The food stalls selling burgers, shwarmas, savory bites and then there's the sweet things area. A chicken schwarma costs R80 and lamb/steak mixed is R90. A burger is anything from R80 up to about R120. The food is not bad at all. Only gripe I had is that they DO NOT TAKE CASH. So for every transaction you must pay by card...we made six transactions. Burger, shwarmas, iced tea, beer and something from the sweets/dessert area. I understand Covid happened, money safety, etc, etc. But I prefer working with cash...just my opinion. So 6 x bank charges! Just saying. We not all millionaires. There's a lovely kiddies play area too. You can sit on the grass and eat but take something to sit on. Not a bad space for relaxing chilling...
Read moreTo be fair, you really can't ask for a better venue for a day out in Stellenbosch to spend in good company in a wonderful environment.
The venue caters for adults with a wide selection in terms of wine tasting as well as for children with the extensive play area.
The food is of good quality, but to be honest, the star was the table service staff who nail down the attentive/private service balance perfectly - that alone is worth a star.
There is ample parking and the venue also allows people to picnic on their own - which was good to see.
On pricing, let's be fair: If you are coming out here, you're not expecting fast food pricing - of course there are generous portions, but on the downside, for this experience, it would be nice if the kitchen could compromise somewhat on the menu customisation.
Still, great venue, a bit pricey, but you'll enjoy...
