So giving this place 5 stars 3 years ago isn't enough. I have decided to update. For those who read menus and reviews before going to a restaurant I am going to give a breakdown of my experience on the 14 May 2022. That being said, I have been here many times in the past so this is ONLY for that night. We were a table of 12 adults.
Drinks: The selection of drinks range from alcoholic to non alcoholic which is always a huge deal for me because I cannot have alcohol. I ordered the Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri whereas someone else ordered the normal one. A point was made to get it right on their side and it was confirmed before I took a sip. It was beautifully presented with a nice balance of sweetness.
Food: After our drinks, we first ordered the Fried Zucchini Fritti which is a must for going there. The table was so curious as to why we enjoyed it so much that when sharing we ended up dividing between the whole table! Everyone loved it!
The place caters for Lactose and Gluten intolerance as well as can use Vegan cheese on their dishes. This is a huge deal because some of the guests had specific diets.
Main meals was a hit no matter what. Someone had a burger, another had a steak and everyone else had a Pizza. I have had their Lasagna before too and I can speak for everyone there that the food was amazing. Meat (burger and steak) was perfectly cooked. Pizzas had the right amount of cheese and generous toppings. My favorite is the half and half Bianca e Fungi and Queen Regina where you can choose two halves of the pizzas and only pay for one. I would recommend getting a large pizza if you are moderately hungry - the circumference makes a huge difference and I only took one slice home that night.
Service, Decor and Ambiance: The service is usually amazing and quite quick but there was loadshedding and as the night grew more busy it was a bit harder to catch our waitress attention for things such as the bill. We did not mind because this was understandable. She was very friendly and patience with us being such a big table (and on such a busy night too!) so well done to Chipo!
Ambiance was great - no very loud noises. Decor was amazing with beautiful wine racks, lovely chairs and I think the star of the show was the big wood fire pizza oven. Some first time guests remarked on it.
Improvements: There was one complain that night: They had blunt knives and at one point a guest struggled to cut her steak but the manager who checked on us often was very quickly on it and got a new knife. Just asking the restaurant that they need to invest in a few steak knives for the occasionally...
Read moreI recently dined at Piza e Vino, and while it was an overall pleasant experience, I couldn't help but notice some changes since my last visit. Here's my take on this Italian eatery:
Menu Changes: One aspect that struck me was the noticeable shift in menu options. There used to be a more diverse selection, featuring a broader range of Italian dishes beyond pizza. Sadly, this time, the menu seemed somewhat limited, lacking the variety I had come to expect from Piza e Vino.
Pizza Perfection: Despite the changes in the menu, the one thing that has remained consistently excellent at Piza e Vino is their pizza. The pizzas here are a must-try for any pizza enthusiast. The thin crust is perfectly crispy, the toppings are fresh, and the flavors are mouthwatering. If you visit, don't leave without trying one of their signature pies.
Ample Parking: One aspect that makes Piza e Vino a convenient dining option is the ample parking available. Whether you're dining in or picking up a takeaway order, you won't have to worry about finding a parking spot, which can be a big plus in this bustling area.
Quick Meal Option: Piza e Vino is an ideal choice when you're looking for a quick and satisfying meal. The service is generally swift, making it a suitable option for a lunch break or a spontaneous dinner outing. It's a place where you can enjoy a quality pizza without a long wait.
In conclusion, Piza e Vino remains a decent choice for pizza lovers, with its delectable pies and convenient parking. However, I do hope they consider reintroducing some of the previous menu options to cater to a wider audience. If you're in the mood for a quick, no-fuss meal centered around delicious pizza, this place is...
Read moreTried out Piza E Vino for the first time last night. Sitting a little way outside of Stellenbosch Town centre, in a small mall type shopping centre. We did not have any trouble finding parking this specific night as there was enough open parking spots. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with wine and cellar type decorations. There is enough seating on the inside as well as the outside. As it was a bit rainy, we sat inside the restaurant. Menu is quite good with a range of different gourmet pizzas and pastas. Prices are in the mid to expensive range, but that is understandable for gourmet type food. I gave their newest addition to the menu a try, called the "Dirty Mac and Cheese", paired with a glass of Alexander Fontein Cabernet Sauvigon. This is an amazing dish!! Best Mac and Cheese that I have tried in a long time. The Cabernet Sauvigon is very good, so that I am going to see if I can order a case online. Service is also very good, although we had to wait a bit to get our bill at the end. The only thing that was a bit off putting was the amount of noise inside the restaurant. Not sure if it was the way that the building was echoing all the talking, but you could not quite have a talk with the person across the table from you. Then there was the occasional crash of cutlery from the kitchen side. I think it may be best to visit if they are not to busy or take a table on the outside of the venue. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the...
