Tenerife North Airport is, in general, a well-functioning and efficiently managed regional airport that serves as a key gateway to the island’s northern region. The facilities are clean, signage is clear, and the overall passenger flow is relatively smooth, especially considering the airport’s size and volume of traffic.
That said, I would suggest a few areas for improvement that could greatly enhance the experience for international travelers. Firstly, the public transportation connectivity to Santa Cruz de Tenerife could be more robust and convenient. While taxis and buses are available, a more direct and frequent link—perhaps a shuttle or extended tram service—would be highly beneficial.
During my visit, my flight was delayed due to heavy fog, which, I was told, is a common occurrence at this airport given its location and weather conditions. While this is understandable from an operational safety standpoint, it would be helpful if there were more real-time communication and updates provided to passengers during these delays.
Additionally, I noticed a lack of USB charging ports in the waiting areas, something that is increasingly expected by today’s international travelers. Especially for those with long layovers or delays, the ability to charge devices is essential and would be a small but meaningful improvement.
In summary, Tenerife North Airport offers a solid travel experience, but a few thoughtful upgrades could bring it in line with modern...
Read moreA very comfortable, safe, modern looking and thoroughly managed airport facility serving the Northern Ténérife. The staff is serviable and friendly always ready to stretch a helpful hand come what may. The whole place is well managed in terms of overall sanitation, cleanliness, safety (also children-wise), ergonomic design, easy navigation within the built compound with large, multilingual direction signs to the passengers' benefit. The toilets are properly maintained and some even fit with children toilet seats. Just one thing that ran us ragged when entering the rental car return area within the airport. The access to the vehicle parking was not clearly marked and we "lost bearings" so to speak, trying to make our way to it, turning around the whole area multiple times (navigation system, including the one installed in the vehicle, was useless). It took us 15-20 min to finally reach the right parking lot not before we were mentally exhausted, fearing to miss our inbound flight. Please, be minded of this issue and rely on the instructions, provided by your car rental agency. Apart of this, the airport is amazing and easy to find one's way around. Thanks, Tenerife. Enjoy the aerial pictures of the Northern...
Read moreTenerife North Airport is located in the northern part of the island of Tenerife. Since the opening of a new terminal in 2002, the number of flights at the airport has grown considerably. Tenerife North Airport is smaller than Tenerife South Airport and is mainly used for flights to the Spanish mainland and the other Canary Islands, mainly operated by Binter Canarias and Canaryfly. This is one of the best airports. That you cannot sleep there is in my opinion not a reason for critic as there are no late connections where you don't have plenty of time to organize a bed and you can reach the airport with public transportation from anywhere. Unlike for example Luton London where many people arrive at two or three in the morning because of late flight to Stanstedt with bad transfer. Then you really have to spend some few hours there because to check in at a hotel at 3am only to leave 2-3 hours later if you're leaving around 7am. This would not happen here. There really isn't anything...
