Dear Young Lion Safaris team,
We want to provide our feedback to express our gratitude for the amazing experience we had climbing Kilimanjaro! It was an adventure weâll never forget, made more extraordinary by our amazing tour guides and team!
Pamphil & Allen (our fantastic guides) were phenomenal from start to finish. Their positive attitude, motivation, infectious enthusiasm and genuine care transformed a daunting trek into an unforgettable experience! On the summit day we both struggled from start to finish with altitude sickness, but their expert guidance and constant support got us to Uhuru Peak â we would not have made it without them and will be forever thankful for the support and encouragement they gave. âBe strong like Simba!â They constantly went out of their way to help us, even when we were being âpolepoleâ. It was great getting to know them - learning about their families, their experiences and where they are from. They were super friendly, generous and always went out of their way to make sure we were happy! We want to express our huge thanks to them for supporting Andy on the last day â helping him down the very steep mountain and ensuring his safety by organising a car down to Moshi. Weâre extremely thankful for the concern they showed for his safety â it truly felt like they cared. We would highly recommend Pamphil (Guide) and Allen (Assistant Guide) to anyone visiting â they completely exceeded our expectations with how fantastic they were, and we had such a fun time thanks to them.
Deogratias (our waiter) was incredible! Deo constantly went out of his way to help us. He was very polite, super friendly, generous and always had a big smile on his face (making the 6AM wake up calls easy!) We want to express our huge thanks to him for carrying our heavy bag all the way up to Base Camp for us â he was simply fantastic!
John Richard (Cook) â The food was amazing â every meal was so tasty! He kept us very well fed and we were amazed at the variety of dishes and flavours he was able to provide on top of a 5,895M mountain. The cucumber soup was our personal favourite â if he could send the recipe that would be great (haha!)
Benedictor, Baraka, January, Musa, Wanya (Porters) â They were all fantastic! We want to say a huge thank you to the team for not only carrying everything up to Base Camp for us to keep us fed and happy â but also for greeting us after the summit, helping us with our bags and supporting us down the last few hundred meters! It was great to meet you all and we absolutely loved the song you sang for us â it will be a memory weâll always treasure, and we hope you donât mind but Andy took a video so that we can watch it again to make us smile!
We want to thank all you for making this experience unforgettable! We would highly recommend all of you to anyone visiting, you were the best team we could have asked for! We wish you all the best -...
Read moreOur 4-day Northern Parks Safari with Young Lion Safaris took us through Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater â and it was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives. From the moment we booked, everything was smooth and easy. The communication with the company was always clear, friendly, and helpful, and we felt well cared for even before the journey began.
But what truly made this trip unforgettable was our guide, Swamy, From the first moment he greeted us early at our hotel, we knew we were in good hands. He was not only punctual and highly organized, but also warm, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable. Throughout the trip, Swazy answered every question we had â whether about wildlife, landscapes, or local culture â with ease and passion. It was clear that he truly loves what he does, and his enthusiasm was contagious.
Every day of the safari was thoughtfully planned. We started with breathtaking encounters in Tarangire, where we saw elephants, zebras, and many other animals for the first time. Then came the vast open plains of the Serengeti, full of unforgettable wildlife moments, including the Big Five. On the final day, we descended into the Ngorongoro Crater â a surreal and magical landscape unlike anything weâd ever seen. Watching animals in their natural habitat, not behind bars, was deeply moving. We saw them feeding, resting, playing, sunbathing, even hiding under bridges â moments weâll never forget.
Our vehicle was comfortable and clean each morning, despite the dust and weather of the previous days. The pop-up roof made wildlife viewing an adventure in itself. Swazy made sure we had plenty of water and good food every day â with breakfast at our lodges, lovely lunches at picnic spots in nature, and delicious dinners in the evenings. Our accommodations exceeded our expectations in every way, with warm, welcoming staff and a great atmosphere at each stop.
Swazy also showed deep respect for the environment and the animals. He educated us about not feeding wildlife, ensured we always took our trash with us, and demonstrated a level of care and responsibility that really impressed us. We even visited a Maasai village, where he helped us bridge language gaps and understand their way of life with sensitivity and respect.
Itâs hard to choose one highlight, because honestly, the entire safari felt like one continuous highlight. Seeing lions, elephants, rhinos, and all the others in the wild was emotional and humbling. This was our first safari, and it far exceeded everything we had hoped for. We came back with full hearts, unforgettable memories, and a deep gratitude â especially to Sele, who made it all so special.
We wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic, respectful, and truly magical adventure. And if you have the chance to do it with Swazy â take it. Heâs a guide youâll...
Read moreI don't know where to start with this review, right from my very first interaction with Hawa from Young Lion Safaris I felt in safe hands. I already had an idea of where I wanted to go within Tanzania, so Hawa was able to plan around my requirements. She was very accomodating, replying very promptly oand having a lot of patience whilst planning the trip.
Payment was made via bank transfer which I was unsure about first but Hawa reassured me and also gave the option of paying via credit card for a small extra fee.
When we landed in Tanzania, the smoothness of the interactions continued, we were picked up by a driver and taken to our accomodation. We flew out to Kogatende the next morning where our Safari adventure began.
This is where Swazy, our incredible Safari guide comes in. He had a very straight forward no nonsense attitude and was always extremely punctual. He knew absolutely every animal or tree we encountered, and I mean EVERY one, and was able to show us in his book which animal it was so we could read further. He answered all of our questions along the way and even taught us some Swahili which came in handy for the rest of our trip!
With his knowledge and experience he gave some advice about potentially tweaking our itinerary and checking out Central Serengeti instead of spending more nights in the North. I was able to speak with Hawa and as always she accomodated and made the arrangement to move some of our nights to another camp. This change proved vital as we were able to see the Great migration in the North, then see more variety of different animals and quantity of lions for example in Central as it is more game rich.
Our final stop was the Ngorongoro Crater, and because of Swazy, suggestion we were able to spend more time in the crater and due to his experience of listening and communicating on the radio we were able to locate and spot not one, not two but five rhinos! This final sighting ticked off all of the big 5 for us, Swazy put in a lot of effort to ensure we saw each of the big 5 and not just once but many times in some cases.
I am extremely grateful to Swazy and Hawa for making our Safari a truly once in a lifetime trip. I would thoroughly recommend Young Lion Safaris to anyone looking to experience a Safari. You will be...
