An amazing elephant sanctuary close to MaiKhao beach. Ask for Sa or Nin and they will take care of you while you’re there. When we visited they had 3 elephants - 28yo Ploy, 9yo PanKhaa and 6yo Sohaan. The gentle giants are very loving and always hungry for sugarcane and leaves. Happy to be fed and you will love the ASMR sounds of them crunching. They don’t have chains or restraints other than their name tag and a gentle rope to help you walk them (think like a dog leash). Ploy loves sugarcane and her herbal medicine (mixed herbs, bananas, curry leaves, tamarind, ginger and rice flour). Her favourite time is in the mud pool and she will turn around and show you spots where she’s like the mud scrub. Ploy is very friendly and loves a nice scrub down in the showers behind her ears, on her trunk and her forehead. P.S: She’s a poser so be prepared to get amazing pics with her. The small petting zoo onsite has chickens, ducks and turkeys and will soon have more bunnies and other small animals too!
