4 adults and total bill was about 2300baht. To me it's pricey and definitely a touristy place.
They tried to sell fresh Tiger Prawns at 1000+ baht per kg but we just stick to the normal prawns.
Ordered these, all in 'small' sizes Spicy papaya salad Padthai Pineapple fried rice Glass noodles with mushroom and prawns Signature fish Tom yum soup Egg hotpot Mango sticky rice
Overall, I find that only the signature fish is something unique from the restaurant. Pineapple fried rice has a generous amount of raisins and cashew added, but is not fragrant and do not have the wok-charred taste. The other dishes are okay and do not stand out. The Padthai is too sweet, and there is no peanut sprinkled over. The glass noodle is a little too salty. Other dishes are just OK, and the taste is pretty much the same as any other Thai food places. For instance, the mango sticky rice, mango is sweet and juicy, sticky rice is as per what we expect and taste like any other mango sticky rice we usually get in Bangkok. (p.s it is the mango season now so it's surely sweet)
I hardly see any locals. It is very obvious that the price is too high for them. Mostly tourist dining here.
It is nicely decorated which makes the ambience bearable altho the mozzies are intense.
Note: There are a lot of mosquitoes. They have an insect repellant (Brand: Off) on each table.. I sprayed on my legs, and my arms were bitten. Each of us suffered a few bites from this meal. You can see them flying around when you eat.
Toilet is about 2min walk away from the restaurant at a secluded area.. With more mosquitoes. The toilet is really clean though but it could be that we were one of the first few customers there before the peak dinner time. When we left, almost all...
Read moreBest Thai food we've ever eaten! This is a bold claim but one I stand by and testament to this is the fact we've eaten here three out of the last five days!
We originally came to Kin Dee back in 2014 and immediately fell in love with it. The restaurant then felt like it was in the back yard of a local Thai home and the meals authentically cooked as if by and for family. I recall much like this trip we ate there on repeated days, the meals were stunning and the service charming so we just kept coming back.
Fast forward and seven years later we're back almost to the literal day. The restaurant has moved a few doors down and is more modern but the menu hasn't changed one bit (we were told it hadn't changed in nine years!) Nor should it as the food is incredible.
I read another post stating the English menu has higher pricing to the Thai version which if true is disappointing (please fix that) but with that being said the pricing is still incredibly reasonable. We ate five or six dishes for approx 1600 baht which is like $50. They were all amazing. On our final night we decided to order the lobster and it was to die for! Still very reasonable (1 kg was 2500 baht and fed both of us!). Also highly recommend the tiger prawns and Tom yum soup (creamy).
It's five minutes away from JW Marriott, Anantara and Renaissance in Mai Khao and is of our favourite restaurants anywhere in the world, so thankful to be back as part of the Phuket Sandbox program. Just hope it's not another seven years before we make...
Read moreLatest review: We are back in Phuket again and we are happy to visit this place again. With friends we are able to order and try more of their food. The fish was very good, recommended to order. Their local Phuket veggie leaf is still as good. The curry crab is also good, just that it would have been better if it was serve hot. The creamy Tom yam is still as good and recommended. We visit in a few occasions, every day it is quite crowded. Best to make reservations if you are coming in a group. The weather during September is pretty much a lot of rain.
March 2023: This is truly an amazing place to go for a meal. We had our lunch here today. It was a great experience. We tried the valcano egg, the phuket veg fried with egg & glass noodles, and chef's squid and the fish Tom yam. The fish was fresh and the creamy Tom yam was yummy. The valcano egg is good for 4 to 5 pax sharing. They use 7 eggs to make this, so it is quite a big portion.
All in all the food was good. We also had the mango Sticky rice with their traditional thai dessert and coconut ice cream. We truly enjoyed our lunch and we will be back again when we visit phuket.
There is ample parking space here. The restaurant is surrounded with rubber tree. The indoor is very nice and serene. A lovely place to sit and enjoy your lunch...
