My partner and I have been Healthland customers a long time. We used to go here almost every weekend. Sadly, due to reasons I do not understand, Healthland has clearly dropped its standards very significantly. We brought our foreign friends here earlier this summer and they have very little good things to say about here - feeling like it feels very commercial and gives almost the opposite feeling of ‘relaxing’ coming here. The masseuses clearly don’t listen much to what we say. My friends went back overseas being hugely disappointed given that Thai massage was what they were looking forward to most in this trip to Bangkok.
Last night, my partner and I decided to go to the same Healthland we normally go to, at Pradit Manuthum. Before I began my aroma massage, I told her I have a pretty bad neck sprain and to please focus on my neck and shoulder region and not so much on my lower body. Mind you, aroma massage is NOT thai massage - it is meant to be relaxing therapy using aroma oils to glide through your body during the massage. I am not exaggerating when I say, she was HARD CORE massaging me. I have done this for years, I love a good moderate to hard level of pressure, but her hand weight was just unbelievable. I kept telling her every few minutes that it was painful, please lower your pressure and hand weight. It was crazy that she seemed deaf to it and did not lower her hands one bit. She kept pushing, pinching, elbow pressing my body parts whilst I screamed in pain. Anyone with common sense, let alone a well-trained Healthland masseuse would get it and automatically lower their hand weight and find the right level of pressure. She did not. She kept going. I was screaming every 2-5 minutes throughout the entire 2 hour therapy. To give you a perspective, during my scalp massage, she pinched and pulled so aggressively to the point that my hair was falling off with her fingers and in the aftermath when I came home to shampoo my hair, my scalp felt sore and bruised when I shampooed that area. My partner on the bed next to me asked me after the 2 hours when the masseuses left the room whether I was okay, because my screams were not normal, and it was going on non stop. I told him all of this and he called the reception to let them know of this negative experience. They told him that they would raise this to their manager, and that was it. The point is, we have noticed a real drop in the quality of their service over many different visits, not to forget my friends have said similar things as mentioned. Not surprisingly, we are utterly shocked and disappointed and will not be coming to Healthland again. It is not a cheap service here, and yet we are prepared to spend more at other massage spas in exchange for experience that is truly worth our time and money. I did not even think of writing a negative review like this on the internet but since even the after care was so terrible, complaints going unaddressed, this...
Read moreI visited Healthland Praditmanutham branch on Sunday, 23 June 2019 for a 2-hour Thai traditional massage starting at 9:45pm.
My therapist/masseuse was Khun Kanjana and she did a HORRIBLE job at massaging me. If she was tired, then it was the company's fault for making a tired employee do the work. She kept falling asleep, merely "stroking" me instead of massaging me, and also surprisingly there was no stretching involved in this massage.
Let me remind you of your description of Thai massage in your website:
"Thai Massage is richly rewarding, holistic therapy that can relax as well as energize and assist in relieving many common ailments. It helps to attain and regain “balance” in the flow of energy (chi or prana) in the body. It achieves this through the application of rhythmic compression to energy lines and points together with deep stretching, improving circulation thought the body."
Nothing you described was done by the therapist. I stopped the service at 11:30pm because I couldn't handle her massaging anymore. It wasn't relieving me of any pain - it was causing me more pain. And to my surprise, there was no one left at the reception desk, although we - customers - were still in the building!
I have been to Thailand many times and also, to other Health Land branches. Never before have I had such bad experience.
Before I posted this here, I sent an email that same night and never...
Read moreEmployees ought to be monitored! Talking out loud while customers to relax is very disrespectful 😡. What is unacceptable is when we turned face down, they turned the TV on to watch!! Unbelievable!! I noticed when the hands never left the same spot and lost pressure, along w the TV noise and the flashing lights from the screen. The worst part is when we asked her to turn the TV off, she pretended not to understand. Audacity!! Many of our friends that went together in other rooms reported similar complaint, taking very looooong break washing hands in betweens body and head massage. Talking the entire time when they are supposed to be working. Super annoying. Management tolerates this type of behavior and market itself as a...
