We were unfortunate. The mermaid statue at Chalatat Beach was bombed a couple of weeks before we arrive. The perimeter surrounding the statue was off limit to tourists due to repair works. The weather was rather hot. The beach which stretch few miles away were rather clean. The Thais really take good care of their beaches. The public toilets were well managed unlike Indonesia or Malaysia. Don't feel insulted coz thats are facts! The Thais are tourist friendly. All kind of local delicacies were available for those who likes to try. Most of the eating house along the beaches serves verities of local cusine esp seafoods. Tastes are good and price reasonable.
