Me and my friend spent three days and two nights there. We traveled there with our own car and parked at the Kuan Tung Ku pier. There are both public and private parking lot available. For private parking lot you can ask the guys at the pier it cost 100 THB per day. Public parking lot is okay but if you concern with security I do recommend to reserve a private for parking lot. There have two kinds of boat service from pier to island which include public boat available 1 trip a day. The public boat from Kuan Tung Ku pier to Koh Mook will leave at 12PM and it leave from island to pier at 8AM in the morning of everyday. It cost you 30 THB per person. However, they have private longtail boat service as well it cost 700 THB per trip. On the island, there are taxi service provided it is a motorbike with the roof and can accommodate several people it cost you 50 THB per person which you can easily take from the pier to anywhere on the island. Our accommodation was Koh Mook De Tara Beach Resort which is beach front resort with amazing view of sunrise in the morning. We have done trekking up to the viewpoint and the view is amazing up there and worth the trekking. The trekking is okay from beginner and very easy to the expert. We have been to Had Farang or Farang Beach for our two days for a amazing sunset. The beach distance is enough for you to make a walk or plenty of beach area you can do sunbath. There are local shops with food and drinks available at the beach. The restaurant on the island are not that pricey compared to the quality of their food&beverage and service. I recommend to order any seafood dishes cause it is super fresh with a good taste. You will experience local taste of the island. I have an amazing story to share of how amazing of Koh Mook people island is. i have lost one piece of my shoes while i was traveling back from Farang beach to the resort and the taxi driver took me back to the beach and help me find the lost shoe. Unfortunately we can't find it so I left another piece of my shoe to him and said that if he found it just deliver the shoes back to my home. Later a week, he found my shoes and he managed everything to sent it back to me. I am so overwhelmed with how generosity and attentive they are and would love to visit them again. My trip to Koh Mook was the best experience of any island trip ever. I will definitely go back to the island. I guarantee you that if you make a visit to Koh Mook it will give you the real sense of island escape with the real sense of...
Read moreFEMALE SOLO TRAVELERS: I'm writing this in hopes you'll not waste time coming here as I have. I'm here mid-april 2024. all the reviews about the island being choked with trash and smelling like it are true. i couldn't find a single restaurant that didn't smell like mangey dogs, the horrid hand-rolled cigarettes popular here, or sewage. with a couple fans on me i could endure it at alin's, but at miss island's my stomach was turning. the pictures of seaside bungalows on booking sites are not what's here when you arrive- you pay $35 usd/night to sleep in a trash-strewn garden with stray dogs roaming. i booked mr. yong's online and just walked away when i arrived. i stayed next door at mook ing lay, which is still not up to snuff for the price but at least the room is clean and new and the aircon and wifi work. finally, to add insult to injury, the place is dead, and i was told by PK tours that solo travelers can't book tours unless they want to pay thousands of baht for their own longtail boats all day, because there aren't enough solo travelers or couples coming to the island to group together, and big thai families don't want stragglers joining (fair enough). he said i'd have better luck booking in ko lanta. so i'm heading there tomorrow for 900 baht. all told, a waste of time and money and a bit depressing. maybe if you spend the $100/night for the sivalai it's ok, but i walked through the grounds and can't say that impressed me either. i think the 'treasure island', 'untouched nature ❤️' reviews are from sivalai guests, people only visiting for one hour as part of a snorkeling tour, local businesses and their owners/employees, and clueless live-like-the-locals! type bloggers who really don't...
Read moreThe island it's so close to the mainland. Just less than half hour from Trang. At first I thought the island was dirtier than average but then after traveling through many other island in Thailand I realised it's a common thing, unfortunately... Some people don't take care of the places as they should! What a shame. But the island it's a great place to visit, we stayed near the main Pier, but to be honest I don't recommend you to stay on that area. The other side of the island it's so much better. Stay near Charlie Beach. The beach is so much better, bigger, and quieter, and you can see many fish. The main beach on the other side, which seems to be the main one is taken other by a resort and it felt like you are invading someone's privacy. I really don't like how they allow resorts to build so close to natural resources here and make you feel like it's private land. The other beach it's not at all like that, I wish I stayed on that side instead. The Emerald cave it's simply amazing! I was a bit scared to do it because I don't like the dark and I'm not very confident with water, but Omg! It was great. I didn't feel scared at all at any point, you have to do it! Look down before you get inside the cave and you will be amazed on how many fish you'll see. I think 3 or 4 nights there it's enough. You can do tours from there, like go to Koh Kradan, it's beautiful. I made the mistake of staying on Kradan, and it was so expensive. Both accommodation and food, and there was almost no choices on where to eat. The good thing about Koh Mook is that there is plenty of restaurants and a few shops so you have choices unlike smaller islands. It's not too expensive to eat or stay there so it's definitely...
