Eden Palm — Local services in Maghreb

Abbiamo visitato quest'oasi 🌴 qualche tempo fa arrivandoci in calesse 🐴 (l'escursione era compresa nel pacchetto del nostro tour programmato). Una volta giunti sul posto siamo stati accolti da un coltivatore 👨🏽‍🌾 (ma sarebbe più corretto definirlo proprietario terriero o imprenditore agricolo) che lavora qui e che ci ha poi guidati all'interno del rigoglioso palmeto 🌴. Questo signore, in possesso peraltro di un ottimo italiano 🗣🇮🇹, ci ha spiegato che da generazioni la sua famiglia è proprietaria di un'ampia porzione dell'oasi 🌴 di Tozeur e che egli orgogliosamente porta avanti tale attività. Dopo averci illustrato la storia del luogo e fornito alcune utili informazioni ℹ sulle palme 🌴 da dattero, abbiamo assistito alla dimostrazione pratica della raccolta dei frutti prodotti dalle stesse; un uomo 🧑🏽 di mezza età si è infatti arrampicato a mani 👐🏽 e piedi 👣 nudi su di un alto fusto (vedasi foto 📸 allegate 📎) raccogliendo in pochi istanti diversi datteri. Alla fine della dimostrazione (com'era prevedibile) siamo stati portati davanti ad un banchetto presso il quale si potevano acquistare gli stessi ("al naturale, a differenza di quelli glassati che potete trovare nei vostri supermercati", ci ha detto il titolare) e la marmellata sempre a base dei medesimi. Abbiamo così acquistato 4 scatole di datteri e due vasetti di confettura (ne è valsa la pena perché si sono poi rivelati effettivamente prodotti di buona qualità 👌). Benché risulti ovviamente un po' turistica, si tratta di una gradevole esperienza che mi sento senz'altro di consigliare 👍.

We did not expect much but the visit turned out to be fun and informative! For 6 dinars the guide gives you a quick history of the palm oasis, how it is cultivated, etc. Then we got to try some syrup, jam and chocolate sauce made from dates (also available for purchase) - very yummy and make great gifts! The whole thing takes less than 45 minutes so it is a quick visit if you are looking to do something in Tozeur outside of the desert. Cute educational palm museum located within the Palmeraie. We were one of the first ones there and took some photos in the building (and on the second floor which was gorgeous).
