Muhtelif Meyhane — Local services in Bostanlı Mahallesi

This is a late review but I needed this to get out of my chest. This might be one of the worst experiences in Bostanlı. Mid April 2024. Living close to the restaurant, one of my friends invited me to have dinner there. We had some appetizers and ordered a 70cl Beylerbeyi Göbek. Appetizers were OK, not bad but not fulfilling in means of taste and price. Yet the surprise was waiting for us at the check. They have charged over €75 for a bottle of Raki. At that time, that specific brand of raki was around €20 at the market. Twice the market price is fine but over triple was absolutely shocking. When we objected, the owner just nodded and told us it is what it is.

We just payed over 4400₺ for a 70cl raki and four average appetizers.

Will never go...

As most places in Izmir Muhtelif Meyhane can’t also live up to the hype. Food is good but not phenomenal. Price is acceptable for food but quite high for alcohol. Service staff (all of them the night we visited) were great. They are not aiming to serve main course here except some fish dishes. They mainly serve appetizers which they have nice variety. Fun fact: you can leave your unfinished Raki bottle with your name on it so you can continue that bottle next...

"Meyhane" tanımının karşılığından ve 5 yıldızdan fazlasını hak eden bir mekan. Mekan çok temiz; lokasyonu itibariyle denizi görüp, güneşin batışını izleyerek içmek ayrı bir keyifli ; çalışanlar çok ilgili; ancak rezervasyonsuz gitmemek gerek. Menü yok; mutfak tezgahı önündeki dolaptan o gün çıkan taze meze, balık, deniz mahsulünü görerek seçmek gerekiyor. Yiyeceklerin içeriği ile ilgili bilgi veren çok ilgili bir çalışanları var. İçki içerken meze ve ara sıcakla devam etmeyi sevenler ve ana yemek hamallığıyla uğraşmayı sevmeyenler için ideal. Ancak porsiyonlar ve içerik o kadar doyurucuydu ki; istesem de ana yemek söyleyemezdim. Meze olarak, isli midye, Muratpaşa, ballı hardallı enginar, kuru domatesli İzmir tulumu söyledik. Her biri ayrı ayrı övgüyü hak ediyordu; ancak asıl övgüyü kadayıfa sarılı karides shot Afeti Devran ve ahtapotlu Bihter almalı. Yemek sonu Katmer söyledik; kaymak yerine dondurmalı bir alternatif sunmuşlar; o da çok lezzetliydi. Fiyatlar oldukça makul; hatta bir üst caddedeki Bostanlı meyhanelerine göre daha ucuz.
