Kadifkale is one of Izmir's tourism attractions. A neighborhood in the Konak district of the province of Izmir is called Kadifekale. It's a really lovely spot to visit.
Kadifekale is the ancient castle of Izmir. Before the Turks arrived, the Greeks called the castle Pagos. It is still recognized by this name today. Kadifekale is located in the southern part of the city above a hill at a height of 186 meters.
We walked there to get there. Travel time from our hotel, the Walk-in Hotel, is about thirty minutes. Kadifkale rises sharply above the earth. Its height is 186 meters. You may take in the splendor of the Kadifkale neighborhood region by strolling. From above, the entire city of Konak is visible. I had a great time strolling there. It's a truly lovely place that calms the soul. There is a viewpoint atop the hill with views of Bornova Plain and Yeşildere Valley on the land side and the whole Izmir Bay on the sea side.
You can take the Izmir City Tour Bus up there if you don't want to walk. You can take a taxi or the municipality bus as well.
Additionally Entrance to Kadifekale in Izmir is also free . The remains of a Byzantine cistern and a mosque can also be found inside the...

Waste of time even Kars castle is much better and majestic.
Türkçe: Hiç Tekin değil, geriye kalan iki duvar ve “gözlem” kalesi mevcut ve güvenlik sıfır. Kars kalesi bin basar, öyle diyeyim yani. Dehşet derece...

Don't go there, it's not safe. The neighbouring area is the worst in Izmir, practically slums with garbage, spoiled food and shady looking people. I wouldn't recommend it even during the day, I mistakenly walked up the mountain and got lucky but I would not try it ever again. To make it easier to imagine, cut off chicken heads lying in the middle of the street, triple barred doors of the local shops and older men saying "This way" with a fear in their eyes immediately when they notice a tourist (leading you out of the area). The castle itself is neglected, rubbish is lying all over the place.
