You’re probably already familiar with McGettigan's, but did you know that there was a new upscale location at Dusit Thani and that it has a very nice new Friday brunch? If not, my advice is to give it a try. It’s socially-distanced, non-smoking, and as with anything McGettigan's, you’re guaranteed a good time at this Friday brunch. Whether you are after a casual date lunch, want to party with your friends, watch the game on the big screen with other sports fans, or you just want to relax and kick back after a long week, this McGettigan’s unlimited Friday roast has got you covered. There’s a great soundtrack, awesome food, and fun times. The meal was fabulous though, and I much prefer a table service brunch to a food trough personally. The way it works is you select a package as with any brunch. Then they immediately bring you out a sharing plate of starters. Be careful not to go all out on the starters though they are divine: they’re very filling, and you’ll regret it. In this case, I mean it when I say save for room for desserts—they’re delicious. The starter tray consisted of Arancini balls, which were the highlight for me, fried calamari, nachos, and a crisp and refreshing Caesar salad to offer respite from all the fried food. You can have unlimited plates of starters, but again, pace yourself! This brunch is lots of food and lots of drinks. Once the fog of your food coma lifts—if it does, your server will come around to ask you to select your mains. You have the choice of ribeye, salmon, fettuccini, and chicken cordon bleu. We opted for the ribeye and salmon. The mains are massive and quite tasty. The accompanying sauces and sides were so much nicer than most pub lunches that I have ever had, it seems they were really trying to raise the bar on the pub lunch with this brunch. The desserts were stand out. Now, I am not usually a dessert person, but on a friend’s suggestion, I made the exception for a certain sticky toffee, and I highly suggest you change your mind, break the diet and start again on Monday, or do whatever you need to do to try this dessert. It’s sumptuous, but not too sweet nor too sticky and served with a yummy vanilla ice cream topped biscotti. Everything about it was fabulous. My companion got Bailey’s cheesecake. He did enjoy it and ate the whole thing, but let’s just say he knew he chose wrong when he saw mine. You do not have to live with dessert envy! Order the sticky toffee. You’re welcome. So, the verdict is this brunch is a hit. It’s fun. It’s great value for money, and it’s new so be among the first of friends to check it out and spread the word. I'd definitely book in advance, b/c Covid-19 seating. Call 02 698 8145.

Excellent service and great drinks

Just visited the newly opened Branch for their Friday Pot Roast with Unlimited Food & Drinks for AED 280 and I must say I am impressed. The concept to begin with is great and much suitable for a Pub and the fact that you can get unlimited rounds of drinks and meals delivered to you without having to move around especially given the current situation is just what we need. All COVID 19 Protocols were followed upon the entrance and all staff wore both masks and gloves (no exemptions), the staff themselves were very attentive and courteous. The vibe and ambience of the pub is well.. very McGetti I would say and I love how they had seating arrangements for most preferences, if you like to sit up high or down low, in a well lit area or a less lit area with no compromise to comfort. The music they played was also great and I was told they will soon be getting live entertainment which is something I am definitely looking forward to. The unlimited menu consisted of 4 starters, 4 mains and 3 desserts with a wide variety of drinks to choose from to compliment each meal well. They also serve Tea and coffee in the package which is great and just to point out, this is perfect for those who are not fans of a heavy smoky pub environment as they do not allow smoking here. For the starters I would definitely recommend the Calamari, nothing fancy but goes just right to kick start the mood, my favorite of the mains was the pot roast beef rib eye made to absolute perfection. For once I would say a Chef in Abu Dhabi got a Medium Rare on point! The cauliflower gratin that was served with it as well was literally the cream on top for me. But there is something for everyone, vegetarians have a Fettuccini option, they also have the salmon steak and cordon bleu that comes with generous sides and remember that you can order two portions of whatever you like and try them all even, no one is going to stop you. Some of the best pleasures in life I would say. Unlimited Fine Dining! For Desserts well.. try them all.. the sticky toffee pudding just won my heart and I am usually not a fan of it, but this was just way too good the same goes for the cheesecake, you could enjoy this with a glass of brut of a simple cup of coffee. Like I said, they have a drink to compliment each meal from starters to dessert. For Drinks be sure to ask for The Loaded Gun, you will not be disappointed! This whole experience is certainly a must do on Fridays. I would rate it 9/10 and hopefully that will go up once the Live Entertainment comes into play.

Visited McGettigan's on their opening night at the Dusit Thani. I knew it was gonna be a bad Experience when the music playing when we walked in the door was ' Ice Ice Baby' its 2020 now lol. Most music played last night was top 40 from the 1990's. Not a good look for attracting a younger crowd. Next issue was DANCING NOT ALLOWED!. Why do you even both opening for if you do not allow customers to have fun and dance. IF you are worried about COVID then don't open. The security guards I know are doing their job, but its very annoying when every 5 minutes someone keeps sticking their head in our section.

So Please Consider the Age group of your customers and consider the music that you are playing, that plays a big part in customer satisfaction. Also There is nothing wrong with dancing if we are in our own section and 4 people are dancing together, For god sake its the same 4 people sitting at the table we were assigned too.

Please train your security Guards a bit more how to have manners and understand that this is a night out, if we wanted to be be annoyed every 5 minutes we would just stay at...
