Mongolian Restaurant Review: A Decent Experience, But Nothing Extraordinary
I recently visited a Mongolian restaurant, and after the meal, I found myself with mixed feelings. While the food was decent, I wouldn't necessarily say it left me with an unforgettable impression. Let's break it down.
Ambiance and Service The restaurant itself had a welcoming vibe with traditional Mongolian décor and a casual, relaxed atmosphere. It wasn’t overly fancy, but it had an authentic feel that set the tone for a comfortable dining experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, though the service could have been a bit quicker given that the restaurant wasn't too crowded. We didn’t wait long for a table, and our drinks came promptly. However, it felt like they were a bit understaffed, as there was a noticeable delay between courses.
The Food: Just Okay When it came to the food, my experience was underwhelming but not necessarily bad. We ordered a couple of dishes to share, and I would say that the portion sizes were generous enough for two people. I appreciated that, especially since many restaurants these days tend to skimp on portion sizes.
Sides and Rice The sides, including the steamed rice and flatbread, were fairly standard. The rice was fluffy and fine, but there was nothing that set it apart from other restaurants. The flatbread, served warm, was soft and nice enough, but again, it didn’t leave me wowed.
Portion Sizes One aspect that stood out was the portion size. If you’re dining as a couple, you’ll definitely find enough food to satisfy both of you. There were plenty of leftovers, which was a nice bonus. I do think that if you were dining alone, it might feel like too much, but for two people, it struck a good balance between value and indulgence.
Price The prices were on the higher side for what we received. While the portion sizes were large, I expected the flavors to match the prices. I wouldn’t call it an overly expensive meal, but I did feel like I was paying a bit more for the experience than the quality of the food provided.
Conclusion In the end, my experience at the Mongolian restaurant was decent but not extraordinary. The food was good enough to satisfy hunger, but it didn’t leave me craving more or wanting to come back anytime soon. The portions were generous, the service was decent, and the atmosphere was nice, but the food itself lacked the depth and complexity that I was hoping for. If you’re in the mood for something different and just want a filling meal, it’s worth a visit, but don’t expect a mind-blowing...
Read moreWe just dined at Mongolian few hours ago. I loved their Manchow and I liked the Mongolian Special Noodle. It’s the first time that I tasted it. Me and my friend did not finish the noodle coz the serving is a bit large for us and we were already full. Another friend came and joined us She’s supposed to eat the remaining noodles. While she’s taking some of it and transferring the noodles from the serving plate to her plate, she noticed a strand of hair. We called one of the waitresses discreetly to inform. The hair was actually under all the noodles.
When we were about to pay, another waitress asked us why we did not complain earlier when it was served. She asked us in a high and rude voice with all the customers around us. The waitress must be thinking that we just did not wanna pay or we wanted a replacement for the noodles.
We were discreet when we informed about it to the other waitress. We also don’t want to affect their business. However, the waitress’ (that time in the cashier) tone was high. My friend even said that “we know that you are tired and we are tired too.” We were still calm but as customers, shouldn’t she be apologetic and be talking to us nicel? As if we were the ones who must be patient for our bad experience.
For the second time, I explained that the strand was under all the noodles. We would not eat the noodles had we known that there’s a hair. She still argued with us. We asked her why she’s raising her voice and she said, “she’s not.”
While we did not let anyone hear about our complaint, she’s the first one who spilt about the “hair” in front of other customers who are waiting for vacant seats.
I would not even be writing a negative review if the waitress just handled it properly. They should be thankful that we told about the “incident” in a prudent way. Our purpose is to inform the kitchen and not for anything else.
The waitress customer service is very poor. I’m sorry. I even wanted to complain her to the Manager but we just stepped out since the resto is very busy. I understand that she must be tired but as their customers, we also don’t deserve to be treated that way.
I gave low rating not because of the food but the bad experience today for the waitress’ BAD...
Read moreI visited Mongolian Chinese Restaurant with my family on the night of 10/08/2024 at 10 PM. We had the pleasure of trying several of their dishes, including Fish Fingers, Chili Fish, Vegetable Fried Rice, Shredded Chicken with Green & Hot Pepper.
The experience was delightful and certainly worth the money.
Fish Fingers & Chili Fish : We frequently order these two dishes, and they consistently meet our expectations. The flavors are rich and authentic, and the team prepares them perfectly. We also request the waiter to cook the fish dish well-done.
Vegetable Fried Rice : This dish felt average because the rice wasn't as soft as expected. It was simply bland and slightly oily.
Shredded Chicken Green & Hot Pepper : This dish was fantastic—it’s a fusion of chicken soup and ginger/garlic chicken that really took me down memory lane. The blend of spices and the juicy chicken filling made every bite delicious.
Ambiance: The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere with comfortable seating. However, improvements are needed in the washroom or toilet cleaning service, as they become unclean quickly, and it seems the staff aren't attentive to maintaining them.
Service: The staff at Mongolian Chinese Restaurant were both attentive and friendly. They made sure our dining experience was enjoyable and that we had everything we needed. Service was prompt, and the staff were well-informed about the menu, assisting us in making informed choices.
Improvements: The washroom or toilet cleaning service needs improvement, as they become unclean quickly, and it seems the staff aren't attentive to this issue. Additionally, the reception staff should be more attentive and manage the crowd more effectively.
Value for Money: Given the quality and quantity of food, the prices are quite reasonable.
Overall: Mongolian Chinese Restaurant is undoubtedly one of the top Indo-Chinese fusion spots in the Abu Dhabi region. Note: It’s best to visit during off-peak hours, as it can get very crowded and you might experience...
