Lucky Star — Local services in Amber Valley

Our regular Chinese was closed so thought we would try this one. ordered on a Saturday night, so I expected it to be busier however Waited for our food for the hour called up after an hour and 15 minutes was told food was on the way waited another 20 minutes called again was told food is definitely on its way! Again still no food , so called for a third time and said Driver had to go deal with a personal matter by this point was an hour and 45 minutes. Finally, somebody turned up who was very pleasant he did explain the situation apologised and refunded our money . I explained i was told my food was on the way three times but was lied to we could have been told the truth the first time and Collect the food that would of been no problem but instead we had sat waited. So The service beforehand was very poor but the food was ok , I would eat it again but was a shame the customer service...

The good points, quick and easy to place an order over the phone, turnaround time quick for collection too. Extremely polite and engaged in chit chat. The hot mixed special appetisers tasted great, however surprised at the small portions! Special curry was really nice and flavoursome. Chicken balls were the best I've had, Crispy shredded chilli beef wasn't at all crispy and had little chilli bite, the chilli chicken was also quite bland, the special fried rice limited. On the whole, not great, and not bad by any means - had worse! However I will stick with The Lucky...

This has been our go to Chinese for many years. We have always recommended this Chinese, and even when we moved further away we still travelled over to this place and unfortunately until today we didn't realise it had been taken over. Food is nowhere near as nice as it was, the food looked horrible and tastes quite bad! It's safe to say we won't be going to this Chinese again. I doubt we will find another Chinese as good as what lucky star used to be with the...
