Arnside is a pretty seaside village on the edge of the Lake District. There are some beautiful views & walks on its doorstep. Arnside has 3 pubs, lots of gorgeous gift style shops, a couple of Estate Agents, a FABULOUS fish & chip shop, a couple of small supermarkets, a few cafes & a couple of galleries selling local artists & photographers images/art work. Arnside (Morecambe Bay Estuary) has a Bore tide, which is great to watch, the speed it comes in is fascinating (tide times can be googled). Arnside gets busy on a weekend, in school holidays & when The Bore Tide is due in. There is a Tidal alarm system in place that is manually operated between March & October (i think) to warn when the Tide is coming in. As it’s an estuary there are areas with Quick Sand so do be careful, but there are warning signs up everywhere explaining what to watch out for. There’s a lovely walk along the beach from the Albion pub to The Bob-in Cafe at New Barns Caravan Park, about 30 mins gentle flat walk. If that’s too far there’s another little cafe on the left at the end of the Promenade which does gorgeous cakes, ice cream & takeaway drinks. There’s lots of bench seating along the seafront & on the Promenade. There is a lovely train station with trains from Carnfort, going up the West Coast. You can catch a train to Grange over Sands & Ulverston. The trains also go all the way to Manchester Airport. The floating Viaduct over The Bay gets some fabulous trains visiting as well as lots of local trains. I hope you enjoy Arnside as much...
