Smokies Grill - Basildon — Local services in Basildon

One of my friends' opinion was that the service was rubbish and the staff had no manners.

My view: Smokies Grill is an okay place to eat, however staff seemed to prioritise the online orders over the eat in orders when preparing and serving the food. This was also the opinion of other people coming in and joining the queue behind us who seemed to be regulars. For my friends and I, it was our first time eating there and we were left quite disappointed.

The food was good when it finally arrived, but we were told there was a backlog of orders that needed to be cleared before new orders could be taken and so we all ended up eating at different times. One of my friends was just receiving her food after we all finished eating and, by then, she had shared someone else's so didn't even feel like eating her own! For a venue with seating for 50 people, my friends and I expected a better and faster service. Sadly, I don't think Smokies can cope under pressure and would be better off doing away with some of the seating area and installing a customer toilet and bins instead.

Hopefully our next visit will be better and a lot less stressful for both us customers...

I placed an order on Just Eat for dinner from this place at 17:10 on 29/10. I waited an hour and the order was stuck on “preparing your order”. I tried to call the restaurant 6 times initially but the phone didn’t even ring and constantly said “User Busy”.

I then waited another hour and still stuck at “preparing your order”. I tried to call the restaurant a further 8/9 times but again “user busy”.

At this point it had been 2hours30mins since the order was placed and we realised the food isnt coming.

We went to bed and i heard my phone ring ONCE very quickly before it was hung up. I assumed it was the delivery driver coming to deliver the food 5 HOURS after it was ordered. I checked outside, checked the cameras no one ever showed.

Just Eat tried to refuse to refund me, claiming the driver made several attempts to contact me and left the food outside the front foor in a “safe place”.

Thankfully i got a full refund in the end after 2 days of back and forth emails with Just Eat.

Never order food from this place on Just Eat as they have some sort of scamming scheme going on!!!!

Horrible...

First of all, I had no choice of either; dine in or takeaway I got told that I just had to go. I did in fact ask why but she just simply gave me bland/blunt answer “you have to be 20 to eat here”. I just thought it was quite rude of her? It was a lady that was serving me and my friend I told her what I wanted. I said ‘can I have 3 wings and chips meal please’ she said yes yes let me pay card and yet at her she didn’t serve my friend yes when you can clearly see her waiting with money in her hand next to me, she just does something else. She was giving me my order ad I was meant to go out quickly but I said to her (are you going to sever my friend’ then she said to my friend ‘now you just realised you want to order!’I came to the shop directly so I could have a nice warm time with the great food but instead I had to go back out to the cold walk to a near ‘nice’ place and my food got cold. They also have no reason to not let me sit in the shop or others under 20! In my opinion , this should be...
