Orleto Lounge — Restaurant in Basildon

Visited today for the first time since the venue opened. The atmosphere and decor are certainly up there, and you can tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone into designing this to make it stand out amongst local competition.

We were greeted at the main door by a friendly staff member, who kindly gave a rundown on how to order food and beverages. As well as this, we were given the option to choose where to sit ourselves, and decided to go outside given the pleasant weather. We ended up having to clear used plates and cutlery off a table ourselves, as it hadn't been removed from the previous patrons (all other tables were either in use, or had a similar issue of used items remaining on them). Can't fault the staff too much, as it was a little busy at just after 3pm.

Our order was placed digitally, as we thought it might save time, & consisted of 6 tapas items and 2 drinks. These took around 30mins to arrive, yet a number of items appeared to have been sitting for a while (Calamari was lukewarm, and the Patatas Bravas looked & tasted like they had started to dry out). The Buttermilk Chicken was over cooked and dry, and to top it off the Quesadilla portion size was somewhat disappointing.

For the price paid, I would honestly say that we weren't overly impressed, when compared alongside competing restaurants offering similar items and experiences. Perhaps the main course options are of a higher quality and standard, and we were simply unfortunate on this occasion. I am hoping they will make a success of it, I just doubt we will rush back...

I ordered a vegan salad, I received a feta cheese salad! Whether someone has a preference or an allergy, staff should be more careful. I am vegan therefore I requested the vegan menu. We made our food order, mine was a simple vegan salad. Shortly after the manager approached our table stating cauliflower for my option was unavailable, I chose an alternative, they returned to state they only had one falafel so I chose a different option for my salad. My husband’s meal arrived, after waiting 15 minutes I asked the staff how long my salad would be, it arrived a while after. I had a couple of spoons of the food before realising the flavour was off, although it resembled humus as in the details on the menu, after querying this with the kitchen they confirmed it was whipped feta cheese.
