TLDR- staff rude, food expensive and takes hours to arrive - there’s another coffee shop up the road.

Fawlty towers experience. Lovely spot - been here several times before but never again. Ordered a scone, a latte, a decaf coffee with oat milk (40p extra for the oat milk) and some gf toast (£4.70 for two pieces of toast). Waited 20 minutes for the scone (no jam) and the decaf coffee and then another 30 minutes for the toast to show up. So a 50 minute wait for what should have taken max 15. Asked about the latte and was told that we had swapped the latte for the decaf coffee (we hadn’t). Tried explaining that we’d ordered two separate coffees and there must have been a mix up and the woman said ‘well if you want it you’ll have to come and pay for it’, and I tried explaining we thought we’d already paid for it and she turned on her heel and walked back inside while I was in the middle of my sentence. Tables around us were shocked (one had left already without ordering anything at this point and another table had waited so long for food that they just left without eating anything as they couldn’t wait any longer). In the meantime for fifty minutes this other poor lass had been wandering in and out with plates of food saying ‘who ordered the (crumpets/sandwiches/cake)’, everyone said no and then she would take the food back inside, never to be seen again. It was like a game show nobody was winning. Went inside to confirm whether we had in fact paid for the second coffee and she hadn't taken the order properly. These things happen, no problem, easily fixable. But by this point we’d been waiting almost an hour watching this absolute circus and been spoken to so rudely we cut our losses and left. No apology, no acknowledgement that the whole experience had been a farce. Being the only place in town to get a coffee isn’t enough to rely on guaranteed customers anymore (another has opened up). Train and/or get some more staff and don’t treat your customers...

Don't bother! 4 of us went,2 couples,we ordered at the same time,2 coffee's and 2 scones, our 2 friends had almost finished theirs, before ours had even arrived, went inside to ask where ours were, after waiting 25 minutes, only to be told I'm sorry we have lost your order, totally inadequate, said they were busy, even tho I oy saw 2 tables with customer's. When ours eventually arrived, the scones were stale, only one had cream, the other didn't even come with jam! I'd hate to see that place when it actually is busy, they just can't cope,I mean how long does it take to put a cup under a coffee machine and place a scone on a plate! Can't quite get my head around that, such a shame as with the right staff, who can actually 'cope' with more than 3 tables. Very overpriced £16.45 for 2 coffee's and 2 scones. In hindsight I should of asked for our money back....

Up over Garsdale Head and down into Dent with its cobbled street, we arrived at Dent Village Heritage Centre. It was worth the journey!

Small museums are a delight wherever you go but we particularly liked this one as it gave us the history, trades, crafts and social events in the village of Dent, over the years. It's a rich history.

Added to this is a great model railway and a wool shop next door. There is also an excellent cafe with tables inside and out. Service was not bad given the number of people arriving. The couple who run the cafe made steady progress through the orders and when it came, it was really good.

Free parking for the Heritage Centre is over the road and clearly signposted.

It wasn't expensive to see the museum. £3.50 per adult, from memory and I thought it was great value. Thanks to...

We only called for a coffee and cake but its a very cosy place, with seating outside for sunny day's. We didn't call in the Herritage museum £3.50 adults, which is attached to the cafe but it certainly looked interesting. Open from 9am daily. Unfortunately I also forgot to take photos of the cakes. I had a scone, which was huge, with clotted cream and rhubarb and given jam, very nice. I was given a choice of jam from; strawberry, raspberry or rhubarb and ginger. My partner had the orange cake, another huge piece, which he said the iceing was too sweet for him, I tried it and agree. Very friendly staff albeit a bit dizzy in not getting my order right, as I confused her asking about the scone and jam she missed an item off.

A small village museum that's cramped with yesteryear objects. The museum is small and just about got my manual wheelchair around, trying not to knock anything down. It will definitely not fit any bigger wheelchairs or scooters. There is parking around the back of the museum for blue badges holders or opposite the building on the caravan site. The wheelchair accessible entrance is to the left of the building up a ramp and through manual sliding doors. There is no access to downstairs for wheelchairs so you can only view the one floor. The entrance fee was £3.50 at the time of posting this review and one careres free. There is a sit down areas inside and outside to enjoy a cuppa and some treats and view the beautiful scenery.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Dent Heritage Centre is a real hidden gem! It’s packed full of fascinating displays about the local area, from farming life and mining history to quirky village traditions. There’s so much to see – old tools, vintage kitchenware, photos, and stories that really bring the past to life. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and there’s a lovely little shop selling mostly wool and related gifts, perfect if you’re into knitting or want a local keepsake. There’s also a small café for a drink and snack after exploring. Parking and toilets are just across the road at the campsite, so it’s really convenient. Well worth a visit if you’re in Dentdale or nearby!
