We booked tickets for the 1930 showing but then called to rearrange them for the 5pm showing. On arrival I was being served I explained that I called earlier to swap the tickets and can they tell me the new seats, at which point the bloke snapped 'just check your email', I explained I was not sent an updated mail at which point he looked totally put out as he was having to look on the computer at the updated seat numbers.
Whilst he was doing a family walked in with drinks which were from McDonald's, a lady who was serving shouted across the lobby 'you can't take that in', the lady replied she had in the past, at which point the employee rolled her eyes and said 'nope, as I said you can't take it in' and huffed. Once the family went outside she turned to her colleague who was still working out where we were supposed to sit and said 'unbelievable what do they think they have come here for a party or something, I'm not having that, I'll go out the back and see where they have parked to check they are not going to sneak them in'.
Wow. Unbelievable poor service, appreciate if things can't be bought in but you know slagging off customers in from of other customers 🤷🏻♂️.
Anyway eventually we were given seats in screen two, we went in and say down (after asking a lady to vacate 'our seats'), after a couple of minutes it became apparent he had sent us to our original booking seats! Whilst speaking of screen two, I should note there was a dreadful damp smell in there, had it been the correct screen we wouldn't have stayed anyway.
We left that screen and went back out to ask once again where we were supposed to be seated, no apology nothing. Eventually we were sent to the correct viewing, in regards to that we had an isle seat sat beneath a spotlight, I can't believe that the lights are supposed to be that bright, appreciate they need to light the Isle but you may have week shone a torch in my face.
Overall a dreadful expedience, appreciate the ticket cost is relatively cheap but part the but extra get a bit extra (note to self!).
Quite frankly the worst cinema experience we have ever had in regards to facilities and, more importantly dreadfully poor...
Read moreWith the likes of the Everyman and Electric cinemas just a few miles away, personally I'd prefer to pay more and go to a significantly better cinema.
I want to like this cinema, but I just can't. It's great that a small local cinema like this is still going and I'd love to support it, but it's just a bit too shoddy and detracts from the experience of going out to see a film. The prices are okay compared to the bigger multiplexes, but the screens aren't as big and the seating is barely raked at all (i.e. if you're not tall and the person in front is, you're stuffed). The sound quality isn't great either, and in contrast to many cinemas where you can come out with your ears ringing (also not good!), here dialogue gets drowned out by the sounds of sweet wrappers and popcorn rustling.
Edit - On our recent visit we had a group of lads halfway down who insisted on talking constantly. One can only assume they had seen the film already or had no real interest in it as they were clearly more interested in chatting. After about twenty minutes of this we got fed up and I went to find someone. I'm pleased to say that the matter was then, eventually, resolved. However I doubt the staff would have noticed or done anything had we...
Read moreNostalgic old fashioned cinema. Tickets were just over £5 each via a 3rd party site, but Vue, ODEON (West Brom. or New St. - not the Luxe) are also £5 now. Lady on the till friendly enough but chewing gum whilst serving. Screen was empty - only us, which was fine this time, but sometimes there's more atmosphere with other people around. Toilets clean but cold and auditorium cold. The auditorium was clean and seating in good condition - plenty of leg room and seats comfortable enough. The food/drinks is extremely pricey - even for a cinema. Three large non-alcoholic drinks came to like £17 and this would have been about £11 at ODON with the 10% member discount. Even without discount at ODEON it would have been about £12. The parking is free but busy, as it seems to be used by The Gym also. Overall not a bad visit and would go back, but not memorable. I like the nostalgia, but ODEON New Street is nostalgic too and with bigger, better picture quality and probably better clarity sound also (as...
