My father and uncle had their 50th birthday meal here and my personal opinion is that it was very poor.
Due to numbers we had to arrange what we wanted almost a month before. I don't like deciding what to have until I'm sitting at the table.
The time we had to be in was strict, but when you have a large group, there's bound to be a few people not there on time.
The food quality was actually awful, I assume given they were clearly overwhelmed and shouldn't have taken the booking that they ended up reheating and microwaving a lot of food. My aunts partner had to send his steak back twice and in the end decided not to eat because he wanted medium and got well-done. Twice. The portion size of my ribs were quite frankly laughable.
The staff were not very receptive. You could see in their demeanour that they had a chip on their shoulder and the attitude of waiters and waitresses paled greatly in comparison to the excellent bartender who first served me. To put it simply either they didn't want to be there or didn't really want us there.
I personally won't be returning here and wouldn't recommend it to others. I am a big believer of 'you get what you pay for' and budget food often means budget service, but in this case it was just bad. I didn't bother with dessert or anymore drinks because I'd rather not give my money to somewhere that offered such a bad service. Actually took a trip to Burger King after this, go...
Read moreI was quite disappointed during my first visit to this pub. The food was underwhelming and looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. I ordered the spicy chicken wings and a chicken wrap, which came with a single limp piece of lettuce and a tomato that looked so sad it was almost unappetizing. My husband had the same wings, but oddly enough, our plates were different—his came with spring onions and fresh chilli, while mine didn’t. That said, we returned exactly a week later, mostly because it was conveniently on our route and we couldn’t resist the charm of the beer garden in the sunshine. To our surprise, the food was a complete turnaround—fresh, vibrant, and absolutely delicious. We ordered the same chicken wings, and this time they were juicy, full of flavour, and beautifully garnished with spring onions and chillies on both plates. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his chicken roast, especially the crispy roast potatoes, and I had the grilled pork tomahawk, which was tender, succulent, and cooked to perfection. A huge thank you to the staff—the service was excellent from start to finish on both visits. Whatever happened the first time, the second experience more than...
Read moreI’ve visited the Stag and Three Horses a few times now, and every visit has been great. I’m a fan of cocktails, especially a Pornstar Martini, and on my second visit I spotted it on the menu. When I ordered, the lovely bar staff were still learning how to make it. Martin? Or Mark lol (behind the bar) encouraged Kelly to give it a go, and she had me in stitches as she learned the steps — at one point the shaker even spilled everywhere, (on another staff member) 🙈😂 which made it all the more entertaining! She made the drink perfectly in the end, and it was delicious.
Two weeks later I came back, ordered the same meal and cocktail, and Kelly remembered me straight away. She laughed and said, “I remember you from last time ” 😂 before having another go at the cocktail — and nailed it again! 😊
The staff here are friendly, funny, and make the atmosphere feel welcoming. Service is excellent, the food and drinks are spot on, and the whole experience is really enjoyable. Definitely a pub worth visiting, especially if you want somewhere with personality as well as great...
