Very disappointing that Dalton Park has become dog friendly. Why dog owners have to bring their dogs shopping with them is beyond me. Dogs being allowed in clothes, homeware and even bed shops is just ridiculous. I feel for anyone with allergies. Went into Clarks and someone was letting their dog jump up and slobber all over the display. Couldn't even get into Mountain Warehouse because two massive dogs were standing right in the doorway, getting fur all over a display of clothes just inside the door. A woman in a wheelchair in front of me couldn't get past the dogs and the owners didn't move them out of the way so nobody could get in or out. We were the first customers in Etto on the morning but there was loads of dog fur all around our table. Nearly tripped over a dog lying on the floor in the Works. There was a huge, aggressive looking dog with a very tiny owner standing right outside of the kids play area. Several dogs were barking or having a go at each other. There was a very strong smell of dog poo outside of Fat Face and DP staff were literally having to mop up dog pee from right outside of shop doorways. There is absolutely no need to bring a dog shopping with you. There seems to be an attitude of 'tough luck' if you don't want to be surrounded by other people's dogs 24/7. I actually have a dog so I'm not anti dog but bringing them shopping with you is pretty ridiculous. Leave the dog at home and consider others!
EDIT - Thank you for your response. However, I feel the attitude of appeasing dog owners simply because they enjoy bringing their dog everywhere with them is absolute rubbish. It is not a legitimate reason for letting dogs into a space where dogs don't belong. You say you want to make everyone comfortable, so what about the people who are nervous around dogs or people with allergies?? It's discrimination, pure and simple. Also, can you tell me what was done about the dog jumping up at the displays in Clarks? What was done about the ridiculous amount of dog hair in Etto? What was done about the woman letting her huge Cane Corso sniff around the children's playground? What was done about the lack of access into Mountain Warehouse for a disabled woman because two dogs were blocking the access? What was done about the husky on an extendable lead that bounded up to my young son outside of a shop? I don't really believe that anything is done to ensure that dogs are kept under control within the centre. I believe that entitled dog owners are allowed to do as they please with their unruly dogs and everyone else just has to shut up and...
Read moreApart from the lack of 'services' such as banks and a chemists, this place seems to be almost everything a 'highstreet' should aspire to be. It really is a lovely place. There's ample parking and routes in & out are always fast moving, even at busy times It's nice & clean, there are plenty of well maintained loos, for ladies, gents, disabled, baby-changing and 'family' (with side by side toilets 🤣). There's a great selection of the usual OOT 'outlet' shops offering all kinds of clothing (Next, M&S, Levi's, Cotton Traders, to suit / formal wear specialists), footwear (Clarks, Pavers, and Soletraders who offer broad ranges from all manner of brands), sportswear (Adidas, New Balance, Reebok, Sports Direct) 'outdoors' wear (Mountain Warehouse, Trespass, Craghoppers / Regatta), bedding and soft furnishings, cookware (I spotted the Denby store today) cutlery & chefs' knives, jewellers, beds & mattresses, furniture & ornaments, chocolate and sweets (there's a Cadbury's AND a Lindt shop !!! ), fragrance / cosmetics places (Body Shop, Fragrance Company, etc.) and almost everything inbetween these kinds of shops, from a chip shop to a couple of big name fast food chains, to Millie's cookie store/stall, and various cafés & coffee shops. There are even a couple of 'gift shops' for gifty trinket kind of things, at least one big name greeting cards shop, and a branch of 'The Works' for all manner of discount books, art & craft materials, fidget & 'popper' toys. What more...
Read moreGood points: it has a very good variety of outlet shops; shops laid out in a curve so easy to access all units. Plenty of places to drink and eat for lunch although it can be a bit busy. Very good free car parking including generous disabled parking bays. Improved amount of seating on my latest visits. Bad points, Ladies toilets have absolutely tiny cubicles, you have to nearly stand on the toilet to close the door. Not enough disabled loos, always have to wait a long time as also used as baby changing - nothing wrong having baby changing but they need more of these units to help families and disabled. Other points: The centre is not fully enclosed it has tent-like structures overhead to keep the rain off so you need a very warm coat hat and gloves in autumn winter as the design of the centre has created a bit of a wind tunnel - on a windy day you will definitely feel the cold. Overall it is a reasonable place to go for days shopping and even though I mention a few bad points I always have a good time when I'm there (I go 2-3 times...
