Go Ape Review: An Exhilarating Adventure with Room for Safety Improvement Our recent visit to Go Ape offered a truly exhilarating tree-top adventure, and for the most part, the customer service was commendable. The staff members we interacted with were generally helpful, friendly, and efficient in getting us geared up and explaining the safety procedures. The courses themselves were a blast, offering a good variety of challenges and providing a fantastic opportunity to push our boundaries and enjoy the outdoors from a unique perspective. The ziplines, as always, were a particular highlight, providing an exhilarating rush as we soared through the trees. However, a significant concern arose during our experience, specifically on Course 4, which traverses over the river. We found it deeply disconcerting that there was no staff member present to monitor participants or provide immediate support should anyone encounter difficulties. This oversight is a serious safety concern. On a course of this nature, especially one involving a water crossing, the potential for injury, equipment malfunction, or even just a participant getting stuck and needing assistance is very real. Without staff readily available, anyone, particularly young children who might panic or make a mistake, could find themselves in a genuinely precarious and frightening situation. While we appreciate the trust placed in participants to follow instructions, the absence of supervision on such a critical section of the course feels like a gamble with customer safety. Go Ape prides itself on its safety protocols, and rightly so, but this particular lapse needs urgent attention. For the peace of mind of participants and, more importantly, for their actual safety, it is absolutely imperative that dedicated staff members are positioned at key points, especially over water crossings and challenging sections, to monitor and provide immediate assistance. This is particularly crucial when young children are participating, as their ability to self-rescue or calmly react to unexpected situations may be limited. In conclusion, Go Ape offers a thrilling and memorable experience, and their general customer service is good. However, the lack of staff presence and supervision on critical sections like Course 4 over the river is a significant safety flaw that needs immediate rectification. Addressing this would undoubtedly enhance the overall customer experience and, more importantly, reinforce Go Ape's commitment to the well-being of its adventurers. We hope to see this addressed on...
Read moreWe came in very poor weather - ice, cold temperatures, rain and sleet. Despite the poor instructors having to sit through this all day (one could no longer wear their gloves as they were soaked through), they were in high spirits and very welcoming. The man in the booth was very well natured and a good laugh. All the staff were great but in particular one stood out. The taller blonde lady (apologies to the smaller blonde lady, you were also great btw), really really helped support my children. My 2 daughters, my step son and my girlfriend were with me. At separate points of the course, my daughters took complete panics and weren't willing to go on. I have to say that despite my own good nature and encouragement to them both, what child listens to their parent when they're terrified haha? This lady was so kind, gentle and patient with them and it took a kind strangers voice with the relatable skills my girls knew that they would have, to coax them into continuing the course. My eldest (age 10) had had enough by the end of part 3, but my youngest (age 7) soldiered on with myself and my stepson (age 8) to complete the course.
The positive response I have had from my children completing this and the great support from the instructors really brought a tear to my eye. I'm so proud of my daughters after this and you guys helped massively in supporting a great family team building experience. We are a new family, and my girls lost their little brother a couple of years ago shortly after birth and have had a tough time as a result. So I just wanted you to know that even though it seems like such a little everyday repetitive action, it can go really far for families like us.
We will be back (probably in the summer 😅), and we will happily spread the word about our amazing experience here.
Keep up the good...
Read moreFantastic, professional service from the first call. My wife is blind however we wanted to do this as a family. I called in to check if it was possible and never looked back. They called ahead and set us up for the day. We went straight in at the deep end with the most challenging course and the staff (and my wife) nailed every challenge. Walkways; no problem, ziplines; epic, rope ladders; we'll handle it, swinging rope bridges; bring it on. Our guide Ellie helped us at every stage with the support of her very professional and attentive ground crew. Can't stress enough how safe and supported we felt throughout. The challenge on some obstacles was really high but if we could all do it you can too! Take the jump, take the kids, take the challenge. The crew at Dalkeith Go Ape will make sure you leave with a smile on your face and leave you feeling you have achieved something great. Note: There are no toilets at the site itself so make sure the horde go at the café before you go to the actual venue. Bonus: They have free drinking water available at the site and will give you the chance to hydrate and recover between runs. Personal note: Don't wear cargo pants with lots of extra pockets, the flaps catch on everything especially on the nets! Thanks again guys if I could give you more than 5...
