I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Kitchen at Restoration Yard, nestled within the beautiful grounds of Dalkeith Country Park, and it was a truly delightful experience.

The moment you step inside, the atmosphere immediately puts you at ease. The space is bright, airy, and stylishly decorated, with a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. It's the ideal place to unwind after a walk around the park's scenic trails.

The service was great from younger staff only who are very friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about the food they were serving. They were happy to offer recommendations and made sure every part of the meal was an absolute pleasure.

We have eaten here before and the service was slow but it was busy. We went back again and it was not very busy but we left after being completely ignored for at least 15 minutes. We didn't get asked anything from being sat down to leaving, not what drink we wanted or anything. There was no water. The waiter seemed to have no idea when we arrived and seemed determined to ignore us when we made eye contact. He cleared tables even though there was no one waiting for tables. Then he took the order of the couple right next to us even though they arrived after us. Fair enough, he probably didn't realise, but then we were again ignored for several more minutes before we just gave up and left. No one was showing any inclination to come and speak to us. Several tables who arrived after us had their order taken before us. This would suggest that their system is quite disorganised. It seemed to me they prioritised the big family tables. If you are just a couple, don't bother going. I'm pregnant and couldn't even get a glass of water never mind put in an order so beware going here hungry or thirsty.
