A Fantastic Family Getaway at Rudding Holiday Park
We recently spent a delightful 3-night stay at Rudding Holiday Park in June 2024 with our touring caravan. Our family of four, including my partner, our two children Bodhi Honey (age 6) and River Ace (age 3), and our dog Max, had an absolutely wonderful time.
We were allocated a spacious grass pitch equipped with electric and water hook-ups, which made our stay extremely comfortable. The highlight of our trip had to be the heated outdoor swimming pool. We had pre-booked our slots and the pool was lovely and warm, even on those typically rainy British days. It wasn’t overcrowded, so we had plenty of space to chill on the sun beds. The showers, toilets, and changing rooms were clean and easily accessible.
For the kids, the two parks on site were fantastic. One park was conveniently close to our caravan, complete with a spacious field and picnic tables. The climbing frame and zip wire were a big hit with Bodhi and River. The other park, located at the Deerhouse Pub, was perfect for us adults to enjoy a drink while keeping an eye on the kids as they played.
The Golf Academy was just a short walk from our pitch. We were lucky to be there during the GolfFEST on Saturday, which offered a variety of golf themed games for both adults and kids, including face painting, bouncing castles, a driving range, a DJ, and food and drink stalls. Despite the rain halfway through, the fun didn’t stop! It was a great for the kids, especially on the driving range.
Dining at the Deerhouse Pub was another highlight. Just a 5-minute walk from our van, we enjoyed a scrumptious homemade Sunday roast and later watched the first England Euros football game. The pub had a lovely family-friendly atmosphere.
The kids also loved our trips to the Central Park shop for some pick n mix. The shop stocked a range of locally sourced fresh produce and everyday essentials, including toiletries, alcohol, soft drinks, snacks, sweets, and ice cream. We particularly enjoyed the freshly made breakfasts, hot and cold sandwiches, and a selection of homemade cakes, which were perfect for our road trip back home.
The park’s facilities were good. The toilets and shower cubicles were spacious and clean, and the laundry area even had an iron! The pot washing area, elsan, and water points were easily accessible and well-maintained.
We also took a lovely walk while the kids cycled to the local church, which is absolutely beautiful.
Overall, Rudding Holiday Park provided us with a fantastic family getaway. We’re already looking forward to...

I liked that you were taken to your pitch as it was a bit disorientating at first. At first the pitches seemed small but really that's just because we have been spoiled on recent trips where there was open grass in front of the pitch. However, having the road as close was beneficial in bad weather meaning less chance of the vehicle getting stuck.
I have read negative reviews regarding the toilet block but when we were there we had no issues. Yes the block was dated but it was fully functioning, very clean and my husband assured me the showers were good with plenty of hot water it just needed to run for a bit first. There were cubicled sinks too which I really do appreciate. The toilet blocks were attended to throughout the day and had a big clean where the other block was available to use. One morning at 6am I encountered two people in cleaning around, replenishing loo roll etc as well. But it is a campsite toilet block so grass and mud will obviously get trailed in at times and they will only stay as clean and tidy as the people using them keep them!
The Hubby had a round of golf and was raving about the picturesque views. Had a pint in the beer garden of the golf club and I can say I was impressed with the view (didn't think I would ever mind sitting looking at a golf course!) The pub on site isnt huge but it serves food on first come first served, no table reservations. We sat outside with the dog and sampled a beverage in the evening sunshine and it was very nice indeed. The swimming pool was very popular on Friday teatime and the kids all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I heard the water is a lovely temperature. You have to book and pay for a swimming spot.
There is a field for the kids to play and kick a ball around and a play park too. A little doggy fenced in doggy run but having a dog as big as ours she would clear the fence from sitting just to catch one of the crazy stunt squirrels that seemed to drop and jump from nowhere.
The site was kept in good order and speaking to people who had seasonal pitches they were clearly happy with how things were. The on site shop had a bit of everything from loo roll and milk to tent pegs and ice scrapers. They sold fresh bread, fresh sandwiches and breakfasts too. Ice cream for me and ice cream for the dog... What more do you need?
Ah well, there are also the grounds of the hotel you can walk around and they were...
