I love Rush as a place for kids to run around, burn off energy and have fun. Itâs always very clean. The cafĂ© is lovely upstairs. The softplay has a good variety. But I definitely wouldnât book a birthday party here again. I booked a premium party and it just felt a little disorganised initially with where we should check in and we kept moving back and forth. So I felt the party host needed a bit more leadership to manage the group at check in. But it wasnât terrible as weâd completed all the waivers prior to arriving so none of that was needed on the day.
I imagined with the party hosted games when jumping it would have been a bit more of the party host doing some games like stuck in the mud or tag etc with the kids but I didnât really see any of that but I could be wrong. It just seemed like the kids were left to their own devices to jump around which is fine but I donât think it should be advertised as party hosted games.
We had another incident with the 2x tea and coffee vouchers per party parents. I read this as the parents attending the party rather than just the birthday childâs parents which was my mistake but do think they need to 100% make this clearer on their website by stating its 2x tea/coffee vouchers for the birthday childâs parents rather than âpartyâ parents. We did ask if we could exchange the slush per child for a tea/coffee voucher instead which we was told flat out no which I donât really understand why.
The party room was ready on time and set up nicely with the pizzas all ready and they were really lovely. The goodie bags were all ready for the kids after as shoes nicely lined up for the kids to put back on. However I do really feel 30mins for 18 kids to eat pizza, have slushes, drinks, to sing happy birthday and to eat cake afterwards is really unrealistic. Especially when youâve got to dish out all the pizza to the kids and cut the cake in that 30 mins and be expected to be packed up and ready to leave.
I was made very aware on numerous times how weâve only got so many minutes left which made me feel completely rushed to get everything done in the last 5 minutes. It wouldnât feel like a birthday party if we hadnât sang happy birthday and for all the kids to have some birthday cake - I feel like thatâs a minimum at a kids birthday party. So I did do this which meant weâd gone over our time by 10 mins. But there was no napkins/extra plates to serve the cake and no cutlery and also when trying to get a knife to cut the cake I was told it was a health and safety risk? So we ended up going to the cafe to get the napkins and a butter knife which wasnât ideal when being rushed to hurry up.
I was also told by two members of staff that itâs a real pain to clean the party room which is why itâs so important to finish on time and constantly told it needs to be ready for the next party which is fine. I get it as a business but itâs not nice to feel hurried out/rushed and like a conveyor belt system when trying to host your sons birthday and especially for the amount of money paid.
In the end, while the kids were halfway through their cake a member of staff charged in and shouted that everyone needs to leave and they need to clean for another party and was really abrupt and I felt quite rude. I get weâre 10 mins over but like I said I do think 30 mins was so short and I donât think I realised how on the dot the time frame would be as Iâve never experienced this from other birthday parties.
The party bags were great, the set up was lovely in the party room and pizzas lovely but it was so so expensive for what you actually get. So will definitely come to rush again in general but not for...
Read moreWe love Rush usually. But overcrowding and poor Covid measures really let us down today.
We took a chance going back to Rush as Covid measures online looked ok and Iâm used to businesses really stepping up at the moment.
Online booking was good. As were first impressions on arrival. But, sadly, that was where the positive impressions ended.
Now, Iâm not sure how Rush define âreduced capacityâ, but the place was heaving making social distancing really hard.
I only saw one hand sanitizer dispenser (that was easy to miss) and it was really hard to get any hand gel out of.
Sadly only a minority of adults seemed to be wearing face masks and, as time passed, I noticed more and more people with masks round their necks or in pockets (including staff.. and the manager).
I get that some people canât wear masks, but proportionally, it just didnât add up today.
There were no signs about distancing near the seating, which is a pity as occasionally we all forget, and polite reminders can be important.
I sat at the edge to supervise my 7 year old, allowing a meter either side of me. However, others saw the space as seating opportunities and squeezed in next to me (without face masks.)
I do believe each individual has to take responsibility for their actions (so I moved away), but clear signs and staff keeping an eye out could have helped.
Ironically, I noted there was a staff member designated to âSocial Distancingâ. But I often spotted him leaning up by other colleagues chatting (without a mask on). He also seemed to be having great fun at one point running and jumping between trampolines, which Iâm pretty sure isnât allowed under Rush rules, but thatâs another issue..
All in all, I went today in good faith, but came away feeling really let down. The whole session was more stressful than it needed to be.
Rush - I understand that youâve had a really hard year and youâre under pressure. I understand that youâre trying to stay open and keep people in work. I recognise that you have put âsomeâ measures in place. I also get that, sometimes, people are a bit rubbish and hard to control.
But you have a duty to do much, much better. Because if just one person had Covid in that session today, it just spread like wildfire -irrespective of any deep-clean measures before and/or after.
So please, review and update your processes. I hope that one day I can come back and give...
Read moreI took my grandson here for a school friend's birthday and was not really looking forward to it. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. Once everyone had arrived for the party, the children were collected by a member of staff and taken to a seperate area where they watched a safety video. Although I couldn't hear what was going on, I gathered from watching the childrens' faces that they were engaged as the young woman talked through the safety issues and how the party would run. She then led them to the fun - trampolines, sponge filled pits, climbing nets etc etc - what 8 year old wouldn't love it!
I went up to the cafe for a coffee, having been given a free hot drink voucher. The cafe is small but well run. They served simple snacks like toasted sandwiches and paninis, crisps, chocolate, and a range of hot and cold drinks. There are tables and chairs and you can enjoy your food and drinks whilst watching everyone running, jumping and laughing. Food and drinks are not allowed in the play area.
When I had finished my coffee, I went down to the play area and was able to track down my grandson and watch him having a thoroughly good time with his friends.
At the alloted time, an announcement gathered the children together, and they marched in an orderly queue to a party room. A choice of squash was served with chips and pizza (which was delicious) all served to the children by the same 'supervisor'. Birthday cake was served and the kids sat and chatted a while, then the table was cleared up, party bags given out and we all went home, tired, happy and ears ringing with laughter.
I was very impressed by how organised Rush is. The place is generally very clean (within the limits of kids tearing around), and that includes toilets, cafe, play areas and reception. It felt as safe as it could be. Our little gang persuaded one of the dads to help them climb into a net over the oonge pit and a supervisor very quickly asked them to top because there were too many of them.
The kids love it and I can see why. Parents are well catered for too. ...
