St Andrews Links Golf Academy — Local services in Great Britain

My husband signed both of us up for the three day session at The Academy. He is a very experienced golfer who’s waited a lifetime to golf at St. Andrews, so it seemed to him like the right thing to do to do the academy. I on the other hand am a brand new golfer and was overwhelmingly intimidated by going, but I wanted to at least try.

We were greeted by Rachel who had helped us set everything up. We were moved into a room where we met the 8 other golfers who would be fellow students, as well as Finten Bonner and Scott Wilson, our instructors.

Once we went over the breakdown of the three days, we were taken, with our clubs, to the practice area where we would spend 3 hours a day for the next 3 days working on our form, swing and distance improvement, putting, chipping, getting out of bunkers and handling varied lies.

I was so impressed with how the instructors were able to quickly figure out opportunities for improvement in each golfer and spend ample time to ensure each golfer got the attention they needed. And as the only female and by far the least experienced golfer out there, I was never intimidated…quite the opposite…at the end of the lessons I felt like I had great new tools to help me improve and my confidence to go out and golf is dramatically increased!

After the third day’s lesson, we went as a group and golfed the Eden course with the instructors providing feedback and guidance. It was a great way to apply what we’d learned and to wrap up the academy.

Really enjoyable experience coming to visit your driving range. Staff all very welcoming and helpful.

The trackman system in some of the bays is so handy for keeping a record of your shots and seeing clearly your improvements - when they happen 🤣

The establishment itself is always very clean and adheres to all current Covid guidelines.

With multiple instructors, coaching bays as well as a fitting suite the St Andrews Links Golf Academy is a great place to start from scratch or if your in search of some tweaks to perfect your already advanced golfing skills.

As a beginner, I felt completely at ease and welcomed here and very much look forward to returning time and time again until I'm at the stage of needing a touch of refinement.

This is a fantastic practice facility! Only thing that could make it better is heaters for the under cover bays. Great short game area, the best putting greens all year round and a simplified version of Trackman. The instructors are very professional, knowledgable and passionate about golf. The guys at the front desk are always good for a chat...
