Cafe Dook, St Andrews – A Hidden Gem with Good Vibes All Around We spent a beautiful sunny Saturday in October at Cafe Dook, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing with life – laughter, music, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. The glowing red “Good Vibrations” sign couldn’t have summed it up better – this place radiates warmth, creativity, and community. We ordered a round of drinks – a flat white and a couple of lattes – all perfectly made. The coffee was rich, smooth, and full of flavour, exactly what you hope for in a cafĂ© that clearly takes pride in its craft. Alongside our drinks, we treated ourselves to some cakes from the counter. Every bite was delicious – soft, fresh, and full of that homemade touch that makes you want to go back for seconds. The setting itself felt relaxed yet lively. Families, students, and locals all seemed to blend together naturally. The staff were friendly and down-to-earth, creating an easygoing atmosphere that made us feel instantly welcome. You can tell they genuinely care about the experience they’re offering, not just the coffee they’re serving. A real highlight was the live DJ set – the music gave the afternoon an unexpected but wonderful twist. Our kids were loving it too, happily tucking into their cakes while we sipped our coffees and soaked up the sunshine streaming through the windows. It felt like one of those simple, joyful moments that you wish you could bottle up. Everything about Cafe Dook captures what makes St Andrews so special: it’s vibrant, full of character, and just a little bit quirky in the best way. Whether you’re popping in for a coffee after a beach walk, grabbing lunch with friends, or settling in for an afternoon with family, it’s a spot that delivers on every level. We left smiling, full of good food, great coffee, and, true to the neon sign above the counter, good vibrations. This cafĂ© has quickly become one of our new favourite places in St Andrews – and we can’t wait to come back

I visited Dook today and arrived at the right time as there wasn't a queue. Very organised as I went to tge area that sold ice cream and was invited by lovely lady to give my order. Hardly any wait time. We also had an ice lolly. Price was excellent too.. We sat in the Aperol deck chairs as my 3 year old granddaughter loved them, her favourite colour being orange. However after leaving and walking to town I discovered I'd lost my phone and knew that I'd taken a photo whilst eating ice cream. We walked back to Dook hoping that my phone would be there. Thankfully it had been handed in by some kind person.. I told the owner my granddaughter had walked all the way from town to see if I could find my phone and I was going to reward her with an ice cream. The owner immediately got an ice cream and did not charge as he said we'll done to my granddaughter for walking so far. I must add it was a super busy day and every member of staff gave a smile and nothing was a bother for them. I'll definitely be back. Ice cream was delicious

I was pleasantly surprised to discover the best almond croissant in the UK at Dook! A few weeks ago, during the Women's AIG Open, we visited Dook for the first time and tried their almond croissant—it was unbelievably delicious! Last Sunday, we went back, but sadly, it was sold out. Today, on our third visit, we finally got it again, and it did not disappoint. The croissant is perfectly flaky and filled with a rich almond paste. We also tried the Bailey soup, which was hot and absolutely delightful. The service is fantastic, and we really enjoyed chatting with the owner!

Decided to try Dook, even after being extremely wary of the numerous 1 Star reviews. Got the kids icecream and a bacon roll for myself and my wife and everyone was happy. The food isn't going to blow you away and make you want to mention it on a postcard, but it's a sandwich bar, not a gastro pub with gourmet offerings and I got exactly what I paid for; Fresh, good tasting food with simple ingredients, no issues and at a reasonable price. Staff were pleasant even though they looked pretty busy and the location is right on the beach, so it's extremely handy not to have to walk in to the main shopping area to grab something to eat or drink so you can spend more time on the seafront. As a side-note, in my opinion, 1 star reviews are reserved for experiences at the absolute rockbottom of quality and service, so it's laughable that people are leaving damaging 1 Star reviews for minor gripes like price or not being offered a 10% bus driver discount without asking themselves. It's St Andrews, which is one of the premier tourist destinations in Scotland, so of course the prices will be higher than average. If you want to see high prices, take a walk to the next nearest place to eat or drink (The Link Clubhouse and grill) and you will realise how reasonably priced Dook is...
