Booked for my graduation meal and unfortunately this was far below my expectations.
The main pain point of the experience being our server spilling a whole pint of coke over one of our guests (and his white shirt). I appreciate these things do happen, however this was entirely preventable. The server could have placed the tray on the table before distributing the drinks, but instead balanced the tray on one palm which eventually lead to the glass toppling over and spilling. This was handled very poorly - whilst we were moved seats, there was no intervention from management, just a few apologies amongst a sea of blue-roll. This definitely put a dampener on our evening, but more so upon checking the bill to see the guest had even been charged for his replacement drink!
If the service and atmosphere had been great, this could have been a better experience, but unfortunately these areas lacked also. Servers were wandering aimlessly with plates of food and trays of drinks all ordered to the wrong tables. I don’t believe I seen a manager the entire time we spent there. The atmosphere also did not match the luxe portrayal of the restaurant online, nor the price point (of £50-£75 for a basic steak). Seemingly, there was no dress code - children running around in pyjamas, many in shorts/t-shirts.
Having spent 5 years in St Andrews and trying almost all establishments the town has to offer, I am disappointed to say I won’t be recommending this restaurant to anyone, and have no...
Read more11 of us went for lunch and must warn everyone about the substandard service and food. I ordered lamb @ £28 which was mainly fat. I told the waiting staff how disappointing the lunch was and the waiter (?) spoke to duty manager, if you can call him that? He returned and said they’d taken a little money off, I asked how much 3 times and he just said a little money. We got the bill and they’d taken a measly £10 off leaving £18 still to pay for an appalling lunch. Spoke to the arrogant manager who just shrugged his shoulders carrying on with what he was doing, making sure he avoided all eye contact. I told him we’d take it off the tip then. He was happy enough to shaft his waiting staff who ended up losing an entire tip, which on a £300 bill would be a quite decent amount ( more than £18 anyway). A bad experience and the other dishes that people had weren’t great either, especially for the overpriced menu. If you want an enjoyable dining experience avoid this place and the cocky, amateurish duty manager. I can only imagine he’s new...
Read moreWent to lunch with my client there. Disanility access good. Only 2 disabled parking places available. Very busy. Our table looked out over the course. Table next to us had 5 adults and a noisy baby. Conversation was difficult due to the general noise. Very clean modern resteraunt. Comfortable seating. Temp on the cool side although if was very cold outside. Food took 30mins to arrive. We ordered the special which was roast beef yorkshire pudding with veg and roast potatoes. The plate was huge.Massive roast potatoes done perfectly. The yorkshire pudding was one of those giant ones you buy in the supermarket. It had diced veg in it. They were undercooked becsuse the carrots were very crunchy. I got 2 slices of very underdone roast beef which was cold. They had not heated the plate. I think it must have stood on the pass for a while. I ate it anyway as I was hungry. No mustard or horseradish sauce offered. There was a ladle of gravy which was also cold. Serving staff very nice. Very smart. Meal for 3...
