This is a tiny heritage railway and the volunteer group is still in it's early years. However, don't let that put you off because the volunteers are very friendly and there are free tours round the work shed to look at the works in progress. They've achieved alot in a short time and are becoming well respected in restoration circles. I can see them going further forwards with restoration and lengthening the track, a signal box is also on the cards for restoration. It's a cosy atmosphere, loads of information boards and a very knowledgeable young man showed us round with just enough information and a happy to help attitude. The trains run on special events only and it is only so far a tiny track length, but they are open every Sunday and they are making wonderful inroads into putting this richly historic line back on the map for good. Read moreFantastic day out. Very knowledgeable and friendly volunteers, lovely to have local stalls on the platform. Well stocked shop and cafe coped extremely well especially considering how busy they were. Shed tour was extremely informative and pitched at a good level for a mixed audience. The volunteer running the tour then spent extra time with those wanting more technical information and his enthusiasm and technical expertise shone. Admitted had no connection to organisers of rally but turning people away not a good idea .spoke to others in brough who found the same and were unhappy . Returned via bus to find a near empty carpark ...may be an idea to liase with the organisers next year No issue with railway quaint small snap shot of history but hasnt done its self any favors .Its ok we wont bother coming and go to...
