Great place to kayak or Paddle Board. There are several places to park and drop in to the canal, Beeleigh falls, Heybridge Basin or Maldon Tesco. The water is generally pretty high quality and the section from Beeleigh to the Basin does seem to be very well tended. You will need to get a day or annual license to use this stretch of water but the prices (£5 day license or £36 annual) is more than worth it. It is a mixed use waterway and there will be canal boats and anglers around but on the whole, and from my experience, people seem to share the water well. Most of the time it is a nice quiet place to go but when the weather is good or when people have time off it can get quite busy but a bit of courtesy and consideration goes a long way. Read moreGreat place to walk a dog. Plenty of choices to walk. Quick 20 minutes or longer walks. My fav is out of Daisy Meadow Carpark to the river turn right and walk down to the bridge. Cross over the camel and follow the tow path back the other way. When it goes through the hedgerow turn right and walk around the edge of the lakes. Up onto the sea wall. Follow it all the way back to Hey ridge Basin. Don't cross over the locks, but walk back down the canel path. Eventually you come back to the bridge, cross back over and turn right and walk back to Daisy Medows. Stopping to get a coffee or tea at the tea rooms. Takes between 1:30 to 2:00 hours depending on how...
